Great Controls.... February 24, 2008 What is really going on in the industry at this point? I have no idea, but these controls are flawless. I am using the analogue stick two spaces from total analogue and I will have trouble going back to the normal DSHOCK, though, inevitably, because of the weakened Wii architecture and older tracks loosely grabbed from 3 and On Tour, things are going to be vastly improved visually for the PS3, and, as such, will pull gamers like me back to that system.
Still, anyone complaining about the Uber controls and even the general tricks are quite honestly just not very good at the game. Anyone can learn to play with these controls. I call myself a Veteran of the series and I was at first put off; after two days this control setup was the best setup I have ever played for a snowboarding game BAR NONE.
It will be hard going back to the traditional controls but I will because this game is more like a sumptuous appetizer for what really will be SSX 4.
The music in SSX Blur is great to fine. People like me are realists that don't get into the beats messing with the SFX. I usually play with the music off. Maybe a little more annoying than the better Acid and Ambient selections off of SSX 3 but, really, who cares, I am here for the slopes and the sounds of the board slicing and dicing all that beautiful powder.
Effects like snow appearing on the rider and constant falling snowflakes are immersive, though, one cannot but feel we are just kind of floating in the air, waiting for the real sequel. The menu's, though, for Blur, are exquisite and really add to the game; the whole presentation really is quite good for a first year Wii game.
Congrats on making an intuitive control scheme that really sets apart those who play games and those who are just fad chasing demographic stains on the video game industry.
Too bad those kids are the ones that buy all the mass produced games.
Load Times Hurt January 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is great. The control scheme is beautiful, especially if you have the Nyko Wireless Sensor Bar. HOWEVER, load times hurt. ...and you are compelled to wait, every time, rather than skip them.
Peak 1 is ... not nice ... like that. Happiness (peak 2) rocks!
Great game series....poor controls December 31, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm sad to report, as a big fan of the SSX series that the controls for this game ruin this game for me.... the tutorial was frustrating, and I didn't feel that the instructions were clear enough at all. I found the learning curve too steep for my attention span.....though, from reading others reviews - if you have the patience to stick it out - I'm sure it's a very fun game. So, in summary-SSX is a GREAT series of games, yet I wouldn't recommend this game to those without the time, patience, or attention span to invest in mastering the controls...
Pretty good game December 25, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It's hard to get used to the controls but overall it's a good game. I'ts definitely challenging.
good game but amazon's free shipping is SLOW August 31, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Game was great but shipping was too slow. It took amazon 2 weeks to ship this item out to me. My advice is to get amazon prime or go to a B&M store and get it there.
