Fun for Everybody! July 6, 2008 Sure, the graphics aren't as good as something like the PS3, and the number of titles available isn't as many, but the stuff that is available is VERY high quality and the majority of the games I have seem manage to be both challenging and accessible for everybody who wants to play. That means your girlfriend, your wife, your mother, your father...anybody.
This is a great system to bring the family together and have a good evening of fun.
Nobody to play with? No problem. Many of the top games hook up to the Internet (a free service) and you're able to play people around the world. Mario Kart is great for this. It adds an entirely new dimension to the game and makes it a lot more fun, in my opinion.
Love the Wii. One of my better investments this year!!
Poor Options eqauls large DOA problem July 5, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
We payed through the nose to get a bundle on line for our kid for her birthday. After the big build up, Got it set up, it wouldn't load the discs. I'm not saying it wouldn't recognize the discs, it wouldn't pull them in. We can get a repair in 15 business days or pay a fee and get a refurb unit in 3 business days. These lousy 2 choices indicate to me that they must have a fairly large dead on arrival problem. Beware.
Beware of misleading ship dates July 5, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
BEWARE "expedited ship dates" especially on hot items like Wii. After Amazon failed to send my "guaranteed by Christmas" order on time (I got it a week after Christmas via DSL)I should have known better than to use them again. But, I was desperate and ordered a Wii for my son's birthday since they were nowhere to be found retail. Amazon said the time to ship was 2-3 days. I finally got the Wii 5 business days (7 calendar days) later, 2 days after my son's birthday. I was not allowed to return it to Amazon because it was something called a "marketplace" order. I was not allowed to return it to GameQuestDirect beacause I ordered it through Amazon. So I was stuck with a $[...] Wii that retails for $[...]. I was willing to pay premium to get one quickly but the ship time was misleading and possibly fraudulent. BEWARE! Thoroughly check the return policy on Amazon and their dealers because they WILL NOT help you later. Neither will GameQuestDirect.
BEST YOUTH REJUVENATOR OVER FIFTIES July 3, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Wii console arrived via Fed Ex in just two days in new, perfect conditon. Came with Sports package (I ordered the Wii Fit separately). It came with all cables to hook into my new 42 inch plasma tv, and it is a bright, crisp picture. I have been a real couch potato for too long, and this is so much fun, I have been playing it every day for hours, especially the team tennis. You can play one person, as I do, against the games pre-existing characters, or purchase additional remotes and play as a family. I ordered a nice spungy mat, so as not to wear out the carpet, and to protect my feet.
Also, between tennis sets, or golfing, etc., I watch the weather around the globe, and up-to-the-minute news updates, as it is Wi-Fi enabled, and connected to my router.
In one week's time my arms are noticeably regaining a more youthful shape. My legs and tummy, too. It has got me up and moving and playing/feeling like a kid again. Even my mood has been lifted. The best part is you can move at your own pace avoiding injuries, while having a boatload of fun... I purchased another set today (at retail price) from Circuit City for a family with a kid. They are going to love it too!!!! If all that was available was just the Sports Package, this purchase was so well worth it.
We love it! July 2, 2008 I just got back together with my girlfriend, and I love the Wii because it's a game system I can play with her. Yes, that's right guys, a lot of women enjoy the Wii. THings like xbox, not so much. Our favorite games are Mario Cart and Dance Dance Revolution.
