Not Impressed.. November 26, 2008 I picked up this game with even reading some of the bad reviews about it, stating that the servers sucked and that gamers were disappointed. Although, I did read recent reviews that stated that the game got updated and the servers were alot better, so I decided to give it a shot.
So after the hour long installation that took place and updates to the current version (which was 1.20). I finally started the game. I went in and created my character and already I could tell some lag even in the menu. So I tried to play a game and was completely frustrated with the whole deal about getting a game going and the servers taking so long to respond that the game was filled up before I could get in. I finally got into a game and was up against ONE person. It lagged so bad, and I could not get used to the game for the life of me, and im usually a 3rd person shooter fan, (Dead Space, Resident Evil 4, etc).
This game does not deliver, period.
Sorely disappointed November 25, 2008 Perhaps Call Of Duty 4 has set such a high bar, that it was inevitable that SOCOM CONFRONTATION would disappoint. Although the size and details of the maps is impressive, getting on and playing were rare feats. Until the initial rush of players levels off, I'm going to hold off trying any more. If I could get a refund I would send this game back.
Socom is the best online game ever November 25, 2008 This is the latest and greatest Socom to be released. The graphics in this game are AMAZING. I miss not having vehicles like on Socom Combined Assault or on Socom 3 but it's still an excellent game. The game modes are all pretty much the same as on previous Socom's. This game certainly isn't perfect but it still is far superior to any other shooter games out there. I give it five stars!!
Pro's
Displays in full 1080p
Expansion packs in the works for download from the playstation store
Con's
No vehicles
Only 7 maps
Online Play Only
Clan War options are not working
No option to tell you where your friends are playing so you can join them
Great overall, but! November 12, 2008 Great game overall, but has to many issues for a game that has been produced 4 times before. For an internet based only game, this Socom has an unacceptable amount of bugs and latency issues. I am very, very dissapointed with the issues of this game, coming from a Socom fanatic. Word from the customer if a designer happens to read this is... GO BACK TO USING SOCOM-II LAYOUT, from friend list and tracking them to lobby viewing and etc. It's has been a downward fall since Socom-II. I sure almost everyone will agree with me on this statement.
I Don't Like it November 3, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bad to force players to play online only. Worse to force players to play online with people whom they don't know. Worst to force people to listen to profanity while playing online with people whom they don't know.
In conclusion, it was entirely my own fault for NOT reading the label carefully which says on the front of the package "Multiplayer Online Only".
If you like this game, pick up my copy at Game Stop as USED. Mine is a bargain as it is only two hours old.........
