Drums are awesome! November 30, 2008 I bought the Rock Band 2 Special Edition and the drum kit that comes with it (same as the standalone) is awesome. It is much improved over the Rock Band 1 drumkit. This one is much quieter and is wireless, meaning that it is just as easy to connect as the xbox 360 wireless controller. I've tested both drumkits and the Rock Band 2 set is definitely more accurate and fun to play on. A plus is that the bass pedal is reinforced with a metal sheet this time around. Also, people have been complaining about the drums having bumps in the rubber or notes registering on the wrong drum; I have yet to see any issues with this kit. Get it!
Best Drums November 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The main reason why I bought this was to replace my broken Rock Band 1 drums. I didn't realize that I was going to be getting a way improved and great drum set. I have all 3 drums (guitar hero world tour, rock band 2, rock band 1) and these are by far my favorite. They have a special sponge type feel on the pads to reduce noise and have better recoil. The foot pedal also has a metal plate put on it so you don't have to buy one like I did for Rock Band 1. There is also room for cymbals if you want to attach them, I don't use those however. Overall, these are my favorite and I tell everyone to get these.
Awesome! Improved, but small flaws. October 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm extremely happy with this new drum kit when compared to my RB1 kit. It is quieter and doesn't drop random notes. The wireless is a big plus, I get over 20hrs with rechargeable batteries, the velocity sensitiveness is pretty cool as well. Now, I found small flaws with my set. Some pads were "double hitting" the notes every once in a while and would have minor "cross talk" issues. However, I have since fixed the problem. I tightened (or loosened)up the screws holding the sensors down (under the drum head) and I even added the Official Rock Band Drum Silencers on and I have not experienced any problems at all. This set is a definite buy.
Got a lemon October 26, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Not sure if my issue is a common one, since the other reviews here are overwhelmingly positive. I may have just gotten a lemon.
But I bought these drums as soon as they came out and played them with Rock Band 2, and immediately started having problems with the game registering note hits. I would play songs on Easy and get around 60% every time (with the old drums I can near-perfect many songs on Hard).
What were obvious hits would register as misses (the red circle would show up and I'd lose my streak). My friends and I played with them for one day before unanimously switching back to the RB1 drums.
Despite the big pink slip saying "STOP!!! DON'T RETURN TO THE RETAILER!", I returned the drums to the store because I prefer an instant cash refund over a long, tedious process of shipping equipment for repair. It's Harmonix's fault they made a bad drum set; I'm not going to play by their rules on the return. Wal-Mart accepted for a cash refund, no questions asked.
I'm going to wait a bit to see if the general online consensus is that most of them work before buying them again.
Great drums, plain and simple. September 29, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you don't really want to buy the bundle for Rock Band 2, I would definitely recommend at least buying the drums. These are the best part of the game, and the new ones are flawless.
Pro: Wireless, very little loss of signal from what I can tell. Redesigned to bounce up better. Appears to be built much sturdier than the original drums. Comes with real Ludwig drum-sticks.
Con: Metal foot-pedal doesn't seem all that sturdy, after playing Painkiller or Panic Attack you feel like this pedal might break....
