Compare Kaspersky Products | Virus detection and notification. | Quarantine potentially infected objects. | Using the Internet safely and securely Secure surfing. The solution analyses web pages and blocks potentially malicious web-based content. It also blocks pop ups and ads, which are not simply irritating: virus writers often use ads to install Trojans that steal your confidential data or give the Trojan's owner access to your computer. Privacy Control. Many malicious programs attempt to locate and harvest user IDs and passwords for online bank accounts, auctions, shops, email, payment systems, chat rooms, online games and etc from Windows Protected Storage. Kaspersky Internet Security monitors and blocks all attempts to collect and forward your confidential data from this storage area. Protection from phishing. Kaspersky Internet Security filters out phishing emails and protects you from accessing websites run by phishers who use social engineering to fool you into sharing your banking or online payment information. Parental Control. Parents can protect their children from online predators by creating blacklists of individual websites, as well as identifying categories of forbidden content such as drugs, pornography and so on. These lists can be customized by user type for children, teens or adults. In addition, parents can manage their children's Internet experience by limiting the amount of time they spend online. Anti-virus protection and more Protection from all of today's Internet threats. Kaspersky Lab combines three protection technologies to protect you against viruses, Trojans, worms, keyloggers, rootkits and other threats. This means that you are safe from spyware, adware, pornware, crimeware and anything else today's cyber criminals invent. Firewall. The inbuilt personal firewall provides new generation protection from intrusions and data leaks. The default settings for popular applications control network and Internet activity using the IDS/IPS to prevent hackers from taking over your computer or stealing your data. Stealth mode allows you to surf safely and invisibly, protecting you from becoming a target for hacker attacks. Anti-spam protection. The anti-spam module uses a combination of filtration methods to protect you from spam targeting you personally: white and black lists of senders and content, self-modifying algorithms for text analysis, graphical spam analysis and more. Self-protection. Today virus writers begin their attack on your computer by disabling anti-virus protection. Kaspersky Internet Security is designed to block all attempts to disable protection, leaving you to work and play securely. Restoring your data and your system Rollback of malicious changes. Kaspersky Internet Security monitors system and application behavior for suspicious behavior. Once malicious behavior is detected, the process is blocked and any changes caused by malicious code are rolled back. Your system is clean and your original data is intact. Rescue disk. Very Good Product - but Proactive Module Needs Work July 6, 2008 Very pleased with general functioning of Kaspersky Internet Security. Installed and runs a scan without a problem. Turning on Proactive Module leads to numerous popups warning of potential trouble. There is no way that I can see to tell if the "Integrity violation" messages are genuine or just false positives as Kaspersky learns about the programs I use. I can't tell if the dll's are being modified as part of the normal program operation (possibly) or whether my system has become infested with software invaders (not likely). Pressing on the details hyperlink doesn't provide any helpful information. Seems like their database should be updated. A product called Winpatrol is an excellent model the type of support I have in mind. Turning off Proactive mode is a possibility, but why lose the value of a feature Kaspersky highlights?
My Kaspersky July 5, 2008 It seems good to me.
I know Norton gave me a hard time a few years ago by cutting my subscription off 2 months early. I could get no help, person, reason, ... McAfee was ok, but after a few years I got no rebates or discounts.
At least now I'm supposed to have the highest rated at the same or less cost. Amen!
Safety and efficiency June 29, 2008 I had a trial of this and loved it. Couldn't afford to buy it when the trial was up. Went with free PC-cillin licensed by work, It slowed down my PC by a factor of 3. Went with a free one (Avast), after six months of good results a trojan got through. Decided I couldn't afford not to have Kaspersky. Cleaned up my PC, and keeps me safe. And my PC is as fast as ever.
So, so slow!! June 28, 2008 I've had Norton IS and ZoneAlarm IS, and I thought they slowed things down, but their pokiness was nothing compared to Kaspersky! I thought it would speed up after it acclimated to my system, but after more than a month it's still slow. The other products slowed down my computer at boot up or when they were actually scanning. KIS slows down everything, even printing - PRINTING!?! And it slows them down not just the first time you run them after installing KIS, but every time you run them. When I get on the Internet now, I click the IE icon and then go do something else for a few minutes so it has time to come up. To speed things up, I right-click the tray icon and click "Pause Protection." Of course, this totally defeats the purpose of the software, but it works. (And given how slow KIS does everything else it's amazing to see how quickly Pause Protection works. While waiting for a program to come up, click on Pause Protection and almost instantly the program opens, a definite indication of what was slowing it down.) Oh, and all the old tried n' true fixes (clear your cache, defrag, etc.) weren't necessary with NIS and ZA, so they shouldn't be necessary with KIS. Since Norton only provides support begrudgingly (and believe me, prodigious amounts of support are needed with their products), I'm going back to ZoneAlarm. I never needed support, it worked well, and I barely noticed it was there - the way Internet security software should be. I only switched because a friend with whom I shared a 3-user license thought ZA slowed his computer down and he wanted to try something else, but he's not happy with KIS either so we'll both be switching back. All of these products are well-rated for their primary purpose - virus and intrusion protection - so it comes down to the user experience and that's where KIS is most lacking, IMHO.
Kaspersky Internet Security Best Security Software! June 28, 2008 Great Internet Security Software. Fast Virus Scans*, Great with system resources. Finds viruses better that any of the other guys. Easy to use. Looking Froward to Kaspersky Internet Security 2009!
