3 out of 5 stars 3.5 Stars, from an Old COB Fan.   September 23, 2008
I fell in love with COB when I first heard "Deadnight Warrior" off of Something Wild. So I know their discography backwards and forwards.
This particular album is similar to Are You Dead Yet? in the sense of heavyness and a sort of "dumbed-down COB".
What this means is that COB have taken massive inspirations from American Metal in this album. Less technicality and more heavyness. The guitars are extremely down tuned as well.

Positives:
Still melodic? Sure.
Great solos and battles? Check.
Alexi's trademark vocals? Damn good, I think these may be getting better and better.
Lyrics: Still Bodom; Uber Cheese which is good!
Good Intensity on Roadkill Morning + a banging solo section!

Standouts, IMO :
Hellhounds...
One Day....
Smile Pretty..
Tie My Rope
Banned from Heaven.
Roadkill Morning

Negatives:
LoBodomy has a solo that sounds a lot like the In Flames solos in either Minus or Stand Ablaze, but mostly Minus. Bad move on Alexi's part.

The songs on the album as good at best. Nothing genius here. At worst, they're ok. None of the songs are BAD, per se.

Not as good as Are you Dead Yet. Yes I said it. Many people didnt like AYDY much, but I did. I accepted it well, even though Follow the Reaper is clearly my favorite. This album doesn't have too many KILLER songs.

Conclusion: This is is a solid effort, but definitely their worst in my opinion. Do I still like it? Hell yes, it's Bodom...but Bodom catering to a new fanbase in metal; The new wave of American Metal fans.

4 out of 5 stars The best yet!   July 29, 2008

I might get flamed for saying this, but I think this is Bodom's best work yet. The songs are tight, with memorable choruses (is that a word?), melodies, and riffs. Check it out.

Children Of Bodom did their homework when they made this album. I really have no complaints. everything on this album works with each other, sorry to get off the subject, but 2008 seems like a promising year for metal, whether it is here in the USA or overseas. I hope the next album they release has lyrics with it. this is a cool release.

If you are familiar to CoB's other music and it's something you enjoy, you'll love the new CD!

I don't think it's quite as good as Follow the Reaper or Are You Dead Yet, but it's awesome.
