Amazon.com Loaded with lyrics about nightmares, pain, isolation and broken relationships, One X, the sophomore effort from Three Days Grace should be a downright bummer of a ride. Instead, the listener manages to find uplift lurking beneath the weighty lyrics as the quartet churns out a series of anthemic, crunch-chord songs. The band moves from arena-ready light metal with "It's All Over" to the sex groove of "Animal I Have Become," before plunging the listener into full-on chaotic heaviness during the anti-alienation anthem "Riot" and easing us into the atmospheric future hit "Get Out Alive." Throughout, TDG remains true to its core alt-metal sound. While that sound has been called unimaginative and unoriginal and at times does feel a little too familiar, the material on One X is never less than convincing and it packs a serious and stinging rock ?n' roll punch track after track. --Jedd Beaudoin

Loved it September 1, 2008 This is a very good cd. I listen to it all the time. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Best Rock CD Ever Made August 27, 2008 Three Days Grace's sophomore effort "One-X" is not only the best rock CD of 2006, but my personal favorite of all time. Every song has a grungy hard rock tone to it, even the slow ones. The CD shines on every song, the first 4 being the best on the record. Until their third one in 09, this is the greatest CD ever, next to Breaking Benjamin's Phobia, Buckcherry's 15, and some classics like AC/DC or Aerosmith or Guns 'N' Roses.
Some good songs, but mostly mediocer August 9, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is one of those CD's where the sample tracks are better then the actual songs cause they sure fooled me. Listening to the samples here on Amazon I thought to myself "wow, these guys sound great, I have to get their album."
Never buy an album based upon sample tracks alone or you'll end up with something like this. Oh don't get me wrong, some of the songs are pretty good, but for the most part it's just a bunch of Gothic punk "rockers" singing about how selfish they are and how much life sucks. Look, I can appreciate songs about pain, we all suffer every now and then, but this CD goes over the top so bad that I was rolling my eyes more then anything else. At least a third of the songs are about pain and suffering and how much life sucks and blah blah blah, let's go cut ourselves. It's just too much. A few songs would be more then fine with me, but almost the whole album? And its done with so little feeling and emotion that I couldn't help but wonder if they were really singing from the heart or just playing what they think we want to hear.
It isn't all bad though. Some songs, like the opener "Its All Over" and "Never Too Late" rescue this album from the being completely worthless and give it at least enough life to warrant a two star rating. Three Days Grace does have a great vocalist, but their sound isn't as great as many other bands I've heard. Its rather bland overall.
So just skip X-One; it's nothing special and isn't worth your time or money. You may enjoy a few of the songs, but for the most part, unless you like angst punk rockers singing about how awful their lives are, you'll probably be bored through most of the tracks; at least I was.
Totally Awesome!! June 27, 2008 I have to say that if ur a hard core rocker Three Days Grace is the band for you. There second cd release "One X" is a very powerful cd filled with lots of hits. I have to say this is one of my favorite cds in my collection. Songs like Pain, Animal I've Become, and Never Too Late are very lyrical, emotional, and filled with hard core messages. If u ever felt pain, isolated, etc. u can relate to this Band. Adam and the gang know how to do their music. Yes, their debut self titled album was a success but "One X" will mark these guys into mainstream stardom. It's a must buy!! You'll enjoy.
Awesome! May 21, 2008 Great for driving in the car or cleaning house, all the tracks have a great beat.
