Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
The Formation of Damnation is the 2008 release-- the first Testament studio album of all new material in nine years. This is the first Testament album to feature Alex Skolnick on guitar since 1992's The Ritual, also the first to feature bassist Greg Christian since 1994's Low. Testament are an US thrash metal band from California. Some of their records entered the charts in major markets such as the UK and Germany. Testament has two Top 40 albums and one Top 50 album to its credit in the UK. Their 1999 album The Gathering also entered the Top 50 in Germany. They had minor top 100 album success in the United States.

4 out of 5 stars The Formation of Damnation - Testament   July 3, 2008
This is a an excellent example of a "true" thrash album that reminds me of their earlier releases such as New World Order, Pratice What You Preach and Souls of Black. I loved these releases back in the eighties and nineties due to Alex Skolnick's guitar work. Well, the band is back and at its zenith with an aggressive and non-stop drum pounding release. any long time fan will appreciate this album especially now tat Alex Skolnick is back and at his best.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT!!   July 2, 2008
I usually dont bother with reviews but holy crap! this is metal at it best. I can only say these guys could hang with Pantera easily. That is saying alot. This will be my favorite album of 2008.It is great to know there are still musicans left in this bullcrap world of Rap and Pop.
Thanks Guys!! Talent like this is rare these days.

5 out of 5 stars The Day Of Thrash.   July 1, 2008
This album was great.

I would suggest it for any metal music lovers. The drumming has improved alot, the speed is so much better than the last couple and the band has truly come together in the best way possible on this cd.

Welcome thrash kings, welcome real metal, welcome scream souls.

Buy it, Never regret.

5 out of 5 stars Top 10 Trash release of all time   June 30, 2008

I've been listening to metal music since 1980 and followed all the trends and twists on the form that have surfaced. When it comes to trash I've listened to it and enjoyed for the last 25 years. There are few releases that I regard as among the best; Reign In Blood and Seasons In The Abyss by Slayer, Bonded By Blood by Exodus, Master Of Puppets and Ride The Lightning Metallica, Peace Sells and Rust In Peace by Megadeth among others.

I've always enjoyed Testament up to a certain degree but never felt they released an album worthy of a inclusion on a top 10 Trash Album list.

But with The Formation Of Damnation they have created a masterpiece of Trash Metal. Sticking to their roots but infusing it with elements of Death and Black Metal. It's catchy as hell, brutal and allt the instruments played with musical mastery.

This is the surely the best Metal release of 2008 and they have set the standard for modern metal that will be very hard to beat.

It will be very interesting to see what the "masters" Metallica will come up with in Death Magnetic. I surely hope Lars, Kirk, James and Robert are listening to this Testament relaese and sweating over how the hell they are going to top it.

Go out and get it!
