Album Description Creativity isn't manufactured on an assembly line. It can't be scheduled or forced and when it's not coming there's nothing to do but wait. That's what the members of Knoxville, Tennessee quintet, 10 Years, discovered when they started writing songs for their second album, Division, the follow-up to their debut The Autumn Effect. Having spent the better part of two years on the road, the band members planned in October 2006 to take a month off and then dive back into writing mode. They aimed to re-enter the studio in early 2007 and have their second album done by that spring. But just a few weeks after they started coming up with riffs and melodies, it became clear they were going to have to throw away the calendar. "We could have met our deadlines and gone into the studio in January," clarifies singer Jesse Hasek. "But we decided early on that we weren't going to allow ourselves to run through the motions. We felt like we really needed to challenge ourselves and do something fresh and different. And that took a little longer than we expected." As it turned out, Division was well worth the wait. Musically eclectic, technically adept and emotionally poignant, the songs shatter preconceptions, revealing a tapestry of previously unexplored influences and a larger array of stunning melodies. Like The Autumn Effect, the new album is filled with enveloping textures and heart-stopping dynamics, but the arrangements are more developed and the songwriting more mature, revealing a cavalcade of styles including metal, hard rock, punk, alternative pop and even classical.

A Must Hear from a Must See Band June 25, 2008 I was fortunate enough to catch this band on a whimsical craving to see and hear some live music. There were about thirty people in the bar, but you wouldn't have thought the band new that, they rocked as if they were playing to a stadium full of people. From that experience I purchased the Autumn Effect, which has become a staple in my iPod rotation. Simply put, what an awesome album. I was starting to get upset at 10 Years for not getting in the studio and getting the next album completed, but now that Division has finally been released, thank you guys for taking the time. This album is absolutely beautiful musically, lyrically, and artistically. Since I have purchased it, I have yet to stop listening to it. It is a purchase no 10 Years fan will regret.
Best Regards, MWB

What an awesome follow up album. This band is here to stay. If you have not heard of them, or any of their music, than you need to sample it NOW!. Oh just buy it, it's well worth it.
Good rock with different voice June 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Saw this band at rock on the range and liked what they played. Everyone likes Beautiful, but their other songs sound good. Don't know if the CD has staying power. Their sound might blend with other bands that are coming out now, but the singer has a different sound, so they might last longer.
solid sophmore effort June 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
its been 3 years since 10 years released their last cd and for the most part this cd was worth the wait. the only difference is that the strongest songs on this cd are the first 5 or 6 and the rest of the songs are not real good. the first cd the autumn effect all the songs were good. this is still better than most music other crappy bands are putting out and beautiful is probably my favorite song of theirs and is worth the price of the cd alone.
An O.K. Follow up June 16, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well what can I say - I really expected a little more from 10 Years. Their last album had some very diverse, lyrically and musically set of songs. Here, while the album isn't bad, nothing really fails to stand out like in the last album. Only 3 standout tracks - 'Beautiful', 'All your lies' and one of the slower songs at the end really sound the best. Also, where in the last album most trakcs would push the 5 minute mark, here most songs clock in at a measly 3 to 4 minutes. Like others have said, this is serious radio friendly stuff. That's fine for a few of them but it seems like they could have done better.
As it stands the only unqiue thing about them now is the main singer's voice talent. He does have some similarities to the main singer of Tool, but he's not a carbon copy by any means and he injects his own sound and style into the mix.
I'm not quite sure I'd recommend this as a purchase. I like the band but sadly it seems like they created a typical RIAA approved radio friendly cd with more filler than killer. The cd isn't bad by any means, it just isn't as unique and musically different like 'The Autumn Effect'. If you're a fan of the band you could probably pick it up and not be dissapointed and if you're just looking for something new, you'd prolly not be dissapointed either. You might be better served thoough borrowing it from a friend or downloading the mp3's as it's cheaper.
When over half the cd has great tracks that's when I usually purchase, but at 3 songs it doesn't quite cut it.
