Product Description
This 1960 album compiled Peggy's late- 50s singles, and it has never been on CD before. Includes six bonus tracks, three of them never on CD! Not to mention there's first-time stereo on six of these cuts!

5 out of 5 stars Hallelujah, I love her so !!!   June 1, 2008

All Aglow Again is a recent CD release of the Peggy Lee record album of the same name--with a whopping six extra tracks! The CD still runs a tad short but it's all very good. Peggy sounds wonderful as always. The quality of the sound is excellent and the artwork mirrors the artwork on the original record album jacket. I always like it when they use the original artwork!

The track set starts off with one of Peggy's best known hits entitled "Fever." "Fever" has great percussion and drums to accompany Peggy as she sings this incredibly hot and sassy tune! Peggy aces this easily and it's no wonder why this was one of her signature songs. "Where Do I Go From Here" again features Peggy front and center--right where she belongs! The instrumental accompaniment is gorgeous and this torch song shines so elegantly when Peggy Lee sings this tune. "Where Do I Go From Here" is another major highlight of this album; and the melody is very pretty even for a torch song!

"My Man" starts with some great drum playing; and when Peggy goes into this tune it takes off like a jet! The drums, brass and that jazzy arrangement work wonders for this sultry number that Peggy bats straight out of the ballpark. "Manana (Is Good Enough For Me)" was always one of my very favorite Peggy Lee tunes; this gets the royal treatment from Peggy and the backup male chorus sounds great! At first "Manana" upset some Spanish people although Peggy and husband David Barbour assured them that the song was only meant to celebrate the relaxed lifestyle that so many Spanish people understandably enjoy. The Latin beat on "Manana" is absolutely wonderful and I could never tire of hearing Peggy Lee singing this wonderful tune.

"Hallelujah, I Love Him So" sparkles like silver and gold when Peggy Lee delivers this like the great songbird she always was! I really like "Hallelujah, I Love Him So" and this tune, which celebrates the joys of love, is sure to please you, too. There's also "I'm Lookin' Out The Window;" this gets a rather sensitive treatment from Peggy Lee the songbird and the guitar arrangement is elegant.

"Let's Call It A Day" was the last number on the original record album; and Peggy performs this with panache--you certainly are left wanting more! The piano sounds great and Peggy never misses a beat. Great!

Then there are the six bonus tracks. "Baby, Baby Wait For Me" is actually an alternate take of this number from another album; Peggy's excellent diction bolsters her fine performance and this rousing number really swings brightly! "Sweetheart" relies on the percussion to mark the beat; and Peggy delivers this with enough feeling to fill the Atlantic Ocean! In addition, Peggy sings "The Light Of Love" with a very solid jazzy arrangement and a fine backup chorus. "The Light Of Love" almost has a gospel flavor to it and this works wonders for this happy, upbeat ballad.

Peggy Lee could sing the phone book--and when she was finished you'd be standing there, clapping and begging for more! Peggy Lee never disappointed and this album proves it. This is a great album for Peggy Lee fans and people who like classic pop vocals will cherish his for years to come.
