Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars I Love Tish   May 2, 2007
From the first time I saw her on Austin City Limits I have been in love with her voice. It was like scales fell from my eyes, I guess ears would be better, and I was hearing the voice of an angel. Love this album too!

5 out of 5 stars Great Songs in a Great Voice   May 23, 2000

Don't want to slight her songwriting, but there highlight of the disc are the covers. Great job on 'Midnight Moonlight' and 'Please Be With Me'. You'd think she'd written both, but the stunner is her version of James McMurtry's 'Crazy Wind...' "Too Long in the Wasteland", the McMurtry disc it came from, is in my personal top 10 discs of all time, but playing it now I hear the origional tarnished slighly compared to her feel and delivery. Now if she'd only record 'Song for a Deckhand's Daughter'. If you're listening to any Texan, from Jimmie Dale, to Hancock, to Townes, to Guy Clark, you need Tish too. Same sensibilities, voice as rich as Jimmie Dale's, and the bicultural border thing working too.

5 out of 5 stars Makes me homesick   March 12, 2000

If it weren't for Sonar del Laberinto, this would be my favorite Tish CD. Of course, there are still 3 or so of her CDs I haven't heard yet. I just can't get enough of Tish Hinojosa. This one has just enough Spanish to keep me satisfied but I find that her salsa-flavored country suits me just fine too. I like every song, but especially Prairie Moon, Amanecer, Crazy Wind, and of course Taos to Tennessee. Reminds me of my days in New Mexico and Colorado lo these many moons ago.

5 out of 5 stars She's gone country...   January 15, 2000

The title says it all. Lots of steel guitar and country twang, but damn if it doesn't sound great! Tish's voice turns a kitschy song like "Prarie Moon" into a work of art. You'll be two-steppin' (or want to) when you hear "Let Me Remember". Colorado was my home until I moved East over 25 years ago. I still cry everytime she sings "Taos to Tennessee".
