Product Description
Available for the first time on 180-gram LP!!!

Emilie Simon has given new life to French pop and electro. One of the most successful artists of past years, she ranks with the likes of Daft Punk and Air, and is one of the most eloquent windows to contemporary French music. She is often called the French Bjoerk. Her manipulation of English and French, her gift for finding the perfect musical articulation and resonance, the millions of precise musical details that become clearer and more remarkable each time your hear them, and her blend of electronic beats with subtle live orchestrations make Simon a unique artist, gifted with a beautiful and distinct voice. Added to all of this is high-quality mixing by genius Markus Dravs, who has worked with Brian Eno and Bjoerk, among others.

In addition to her amazing studio albums, Emilie Simon also composed the French soundtrack to the worldwide smash hit March of the Penguins, which gave her huge commercial success and crowned her as the master of electro-pop. She is a multi-award winning artist in France: Best Electronic Album of the Year for her debut album and Best Original Film/Television Soundtrack of the Year for March of the Penguins.

As her American fan base is rapidly growing, Milan Records is proud to release Simon s first US album, The Flower Book, on 180-gram LP. The core of the album consists of the best songs from her two French studio albums, which are still unavailable to this day in the US, and also includes one of her tracks from March of the Penguins. The Flower Book includes mystifying songs based on otherworldly themes. Each song is a story of its own with its own atmosphere, distinct from the previous one...from the ethereal My Old Friend, to the lively up-tempo Fleur De Saison and Dame De Lotus, to the more intimate Le Vieil Amant.

5 out of 5 stars She rocks.   April 18, 2008
This is an amazing album. I'm so glad I discovered her. What a true artist. She's like a trippier Kate Bush.

3 out of 5 stars Emily   August 29, 2007

With percussion sounds ranging from a wooden box to a bowl of water, this album is guaranteed to excite as it skips across the many sub-genres of electronica. Emilie Simon sounds eccentric, beautiful and sometimes both at the same time. This album is candy for the open mind.

4 out of 5 stars Finally! A French person I can tolerate!   April 10, 2007

I'm normally opposed to anything French due to my bad experience from living in the country for a year. However, I really enjoyed this CD. Every song is unique. Ms. Simon is great. I highly recommend it.

This is a COMPILATION - kinda "Greatest Hits", no regular album. Previously issued material only. If you intend to buy more ES albums, don't buy this one.
