AUSTRALIA'S ALL TIME TOP SELLING FEMALE VOCALIST 8 NUMBER ONE AUSTRALIAN SINGLES & 3.5 MILLON IN SCANS WORLDWIDE At twenty-two Delta Goodrem has already achieved success way beyond her years. Having released two CD's - Innocent Eyes (2003) and Mistaken Identity (2004) which spawned a quick succession of hit singles on the Australian and international charts (most notably topping the charts in the UK and Japan) Delta is now poised to match her international success in the US with the release of Delta. Delta is a collection of twelve 'songs' - in the truest sense of the word - dealing with life, love, and relationships, reflecting both her own life and those of the people around her. The music on Delta was made with the assistance of a world-class collection of producers that include John Shanks (Kelly Clarkson), Marius DeVries (Madonna, U2) and Steve Kipner's team (Christina Aguilera, Natasha Bedingfield) and noticeably showcases Delta's own work as a talented songwriter and performer. Delta is very proud of this new album and feels it's a great representation of where and who she is at the moment, "Everything in front of me is super-exciting, and I'm just looking forward to people hearing my music."

5 out of 5 stars The Next Celine Dion   November 11, 2008
Every track is amazing. She really sounds like a younger Celine but with a bit more pop in her tunes.

3 out of 5 stars Good for some, but not for me   November 1, 2008
I haven't been sure how to classify this CD, because "pop" doesn't describe it properly at all. The style reminds me more of Celine Dion, mostly downbeat ballads with high-intensity vocals. For this reason, Delta's CD didn't really work for me. To give an example, the first track "Believe Again" showcases Delta's vocal talents very well, and the music has moments that seem like you could almost get lost in it, but in the chorus the combination of lead vocal, backup vocals, and music becomes overwhelming. Most of the CD has this sort of feel to it; each song seemed to start out sounding like it would be different and provide some variety, but by the chorus they all seemed too much alike.

"You Will Only Break My Heart" was one of the few standouts for me, because it was the closest song to actual pop on the whole CD. It was the most upbeat as well. It still didn't quite fit in with typical radio pop, but I liked it. My favorite track however was the similarly titled "I Can't Break It To My Heart". It's another slow ballad, but it kept things simple and had a very pleasing warm, heartfelt sincerity. Everything seemed to gel well for this song, and I found myself singing it well after I listened to it.

On the whole, Delta's music just didn't fit me. Her singing is perfectly good, but somehow the arrangements almost never seemed "right". I frequently had the feeling while I listened to it that her music would appeal very much to someone else, but for me it just didn't click.

4 out of 5 stars very good   October 24, 2008
Delta is a good singer, I was very impressed and she will go on my "will buy" on her next CD.

3 out of 5 stars Pleasant to listen to   October 17, 2008
This CD is pleasant to listen to, but it's just not my kind of music. Sorry, Delta!

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good   October 16, 2008
I had never heard of Delta before ordering this from the Vine program, and sort of just got the cd for something to listen to

But I was pleasantly surprised at how good it is. I mean, not sell 10 million copies good, but pretty good. The songs are reasonably catchy, she has a nice voice, and its a good cd to listen to while you're on a road trip or whatever

if you can find it used, definately give it a listen. If you're buying brand new, i would say take a chance on it if its your genre, but if you're not a fan of this type of music maybe take a pass
