Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Special Collector's Edition/CD + Amary Box + Booklet. This special edition of Hard Candy comes in a DVD-sized hinged box with the full album PLUS two bonus tracks. Tracy Young's House and Rebirth remixes of the first single "4 Minutes." Also included in the case is a 16-page full colour booklet with pictures of Madonna and a bag of "Starlite" mint candies. Hard Candy is a brilliant uptempo collection that adds a hip-hop beat to the cultural icon's club sensibilities, thanks to collaborations with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, and Nate "Danja" Hills. Hard Candy punctuates the first 25 years of the album career of the most successful female artist in history with a musical exclamation point.

4 out of 5 stars A Departure, without losing the essential Madonna Vibe   July 4, 2008
Like many of you out there, I have been a Madonna fan since I was in grade school, over 20 years ago. I've been through the ups and downs of her career, through all of the publicity stunts and changes of style. While I was hoping for another album similar to Confessions (which I LOVED), Hard Candy holds it's own. It is time for Madonna to enter the 21st Century and take a bit of a risk, a departure. That's exactly what she does with Hard Candy, but without losing that essential Madonna vibe/sound.

This CD has a very dance, pop hip-hop vibe. With masters like Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, you can't lose. While at times certain songs hit the wrong note, you've got to give her props for trying something a bit more modern and different than what she's ever done previously. Overall I'd say that JT is a genius in what he's done with this cd!

My favorite songs are: 4 Minutes, Devil Wouldn't Recognize You, Miles Away, Incredible, Voices and Give it to me.

I hope that this CD gives her back the spotlight here in the US. I feel it was WELL deserved after Confessions, but apparently due to pissing off the wrong people, it wasn't given the airplay. Unfortunately it's the fans that are losing out, because although in my opinion Music, Ray of Light and American Life were not great CDs, her last two are. So, if you're a doubtful fan, give Hard Candy a shot! I think again, both with Confessions and this CD that Madonna has gone back a bit to her roots with pop like dance songs. And if you haven't been a Madonna fan in the past but you like the typical dance stuff played on the radio, I'd suggest this CD to you as well. Overall, it's a hit!!

2 out of 5 stars Not My Favorite Madonna Album   July 4, 2008

A few songs are energetic and great, like the opening track. But many songs sound like bad generic disco, with paper-thin lyrics and listless vocals.

For a good time, buy "Ray of Light" or "Confessions on a Dance Floor" instead.

Or, go to some dance club where the DJ knows how to whip these tunes into better shape. Did I say "whip"? Mmmmmmm....

5 out of 5 stars One of Madonna's best yet   July 4, 2008

I really love this CD- it's full of energy- with the exception of 3 songs, the rest of the CD is highly addictive. This is one of her best- it blows Confessions away. I hope she releases more like this in the future.

4 out of 5 stars Fun Beats   July 2, 2008

I haven't purchased a Madonna album in years. Her recent ones just didn't interest me enough. This one is a different story. I think it's because most of the tracks are upbeat. I love it.

5 out of 5 stars Will she ever quit?   July 2, 2008

Wow. Another CD with good music and different as expected.

My only thing is some of the Mariah fans bashing Madonna is really stupid!
Not only are you making a fool out of yourself doing it but Mairah WILL NEVER EVER come even close to Madonna's stature, reputation, or otherwise. Globally she is #1 and after listening to MAriah's CD I can say it officially sucks and I'm surprised it sold. It's the same ole crap and predictable.

Mariah fans who dis Madonna you shouldn't be comparing singers to performers it shows what an idiot you really are when even trying to compare that to a performer and there is a difference in the two! Oh but she broke Elvis' record. That's IT??? And what oscars has she won, she sits on stage and sings and thats it. LAME LAME LAME. She doesn't even sing pop or if that is pop who would have guessed. Sorry can't stand her music it's just lame. Nice voice no talent other than that.
Well Madonna has broken any record a female artist ever thought to have. And lets get real Mariah will never get in the hall of fame. She's a singer with no creativity on or off stage with cd's that fall flat as they all sound alike. So maybe she should come out with the next album called, "AGAIN" and just reprint her picture from the MC2 album since we all know how bad the attempts will be to go up against Madonna. She's an idiot herself thinking of releasing records when Madonna does. Did you see her record get bounced off the billboard when Hard Candy came out. It was like Madonna said sorry you dont belong here and pushed her off the chart. LOL

Read and shut up about Mariah (sorry her new cd really does suck the big one). Touch Me??? Thats creative she'll win over the world with that one!.:

NOW SHUT IT stop dissing the BETTER performer and stop comparing a little barbie doll SINGER to something not even in the same league.
Kelly Clarkson or Celin Dion would be a more appropriate comparison.
Except, Kelly does more on stage than Mariah.
