Product Description Secret Voyage is another kaleidoscopic musical journey through time and space, incorporating and rearranging traditional melodies from all over Europe, blending the "old" and contemporary. The brilliant guitar stylings of Ritchie Blackmore, the enchanting vocals and lyrics of singer/songwriter Candice Night and the saturation of authentic Renaissance instruments woven throughout the melodies, create a unique style of music they call Renaissance/Folk/Rock. Secret Voyage consists of twelve new tracks, recorded by Candice Night, Ritchie Blackmore and their Band Of Minstrels. This musical journey is inspired by nature and incorporates acoustic and electric guitars, strings, renaissance instruments and Candice Night s ethereal voice and mystical lyrics.

Be Warned! September 25, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have loved Blackmore's Night ever since I first heard them a few years ago. Candice has an amazing voice, Ritchie is a musical genius and combined with the rest of the ensemble they have a great band. And this latest release is another notch on their belt with a great album.
But if you like to have CD's then rip them to your MP3 player, be warned! It plays flawlessly on a CD player, but it is all scratchy on a computer. Any computer that this has been on sounds like an old overplayed LP. I thought importing it would clean it up, maybe bad playback or some such. Nope, the MP3 is poor quality too. Is this some new version of DRM? The only places I can listen to this now is on my stereo or my car. Not while mowing the lawn, working out, walking, anything portable is out of the question.
Sad, really sad.
Blackmore's Night - Still Growing, Still Great September 22, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This album, apparently, done in a studio seems a little more whiz-bang than B'sN's other albums. It also seems to have a little more Eastern Folk influence than the English/Teutonic Influence of previous albums. I liked it. Candice's voice and lyrics are still smooth as silk. Richey's music, especially the intros just get sweeter.
Secret voyage September 17, 2008 I am a new fan to Blackmore's Night. I first heard their music on their Christmas album WINTER CAROLS. I was immediately taken by the group's beautiful brand of medieval folk music. I recently got a copy of their new cd SECRET VOYAGE. I immediately loved the album the very second I started playing the cd in my stereo. The delicate melodies, Candice Night's fragile vocals, and Ritchie Blackmore's dexterous skills as a musician is all there on the album. As I am listening to the cd again, I imagine myself at my local renaissance fair wearing a long flowing, flowery dress with a wreath of flowers wrapped around my head. I loved all of the songs even the band's unique take on Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love". The two songs that really stood out for me is "Gilded Cage" and "Far Far Away". I really just love the lyrics and melodies. After hearing SECRET VOYAGE, I am definitely going to have to check out the band's previous cds. I find myself hooked on Blackmore's Night. I can see SECRET VOYAGE being in my top ten list of best cds of 2008.
One of 2008's Best CDs September 8, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
While Ritchie Blackmore is a rock legend (the opening riff to Smoke on the Water alone is enough to qualify for that), he has always been underrated as an overall guitarist; generally not thought of in the same light as people like Steve Howe and Robert Fripp. In Blackmore's Night he has greatly expanded his stylistic repertoire to show that is abilities shine on either acoustic or electric guitar (and he plays a fine hurdy-gurdy to boot).
Secret Voyage is an excellent addition to the BN library, showing far more range than is possible in the more limited genre of heavy metal. The hard rocking "Locked Within A Crystal Ball" is as ambitious as anything Blackmore has done in his career. The rest of the album shows a nice variety of styles, almost all with the medieval/renaissance era BN feel.
"The Circle", and "Empty Words" also stand out, as does the cover of "Rainbow Eyes". The cover of "Can't Help Falling In Love With You", has raised some groans in the Amazon.com comments, but it is straightforward hard rock that while not fitting 100% with the rest of the album, is hardly offensive (and the bridge actually works quite well).
Candice Night is in good voice (as usual) and has written some solid lyrics. Overall, this is an excellent CD, which, sadly, probably will not get BN the attention they deserve.
Muy bueno September 8, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Sigue en la linea de sus anteriores trabajos y se agradece. El nivel es de un notable alto, aunque, para mi, sobra alguna de las versiones (pelin excesivo fondo electronico). Me alegro de haberlo comprado. Lo recomiendo
