Album Description Special Collector's Edition/CD + Amary Box + Booklet. This special edition of Hard Candy comes in a DVD-sized hinged box with the full album PLUS two bonus tracks. Tracy Young's House and Rebirth remixes of the first single "4 Minutes." Also included in the case is a 16-page full colour booklet with pictures of Madonna and a bag of "Starlite" mint candies. Hard Candy is a brilliant uptempo collection that adds a hip-hop beat to the cultural icon's club sensibilities, thanks to collaborations with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, and Nate "Danja" Hills. Hard Candy punctuates the first 25 years of the album career of the most successful female artist in history with a musical exclamation point.

Delicious! July 5, 2008 I'm going to keep this short. Is "Hard Candy" better than "Confessions"? Well to be honest, No. But is it as raw and in-your-face and has the urban pulsating vibes that "Confessions" had? Yes, if not more so. This is no where near "American Life" although people tend to think it is. We all know she has once again re-invented herself, working with new people, such as Timberland. It seems everyone he works with will have commerical success. "4 Minutes" is a great first single and the follow up "Give It 2 Me" the album highlight. Other "Incredible" songs (including the above quoted) are "Devil," "Miles Away," and "Heartbeat." Whether you like to see her booty get down, express her love 6,000 miles apart, or save the world in four minutes, it's important to see that Madonna hasn't, and will never, let us down. "Hard Candy" is sticky and sweet and even if it isn't as great as her previous effort it's important to know that she's still here. She don't need to catch her breath. She can go on and on and on. No one's going to stop her now!
HARD CANDY 4/5 (I gave it this to balance out all the pathetic 1-star reveiws ... Hard Candy is anything but!)
Sticky And Sweet (Her Sugar is Raw!) July 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hard Candy is an album that needs time to be enjoyed and liked. I definitely think that. Besides, There are many songs here that can easily be future singles. Let's see:
CANDY SHOP is a great song, full of flavour and fun. I love to sing it! Believe me: It must be a single! I can see Madonna in a candy shop offering her sugar to many people who want to eat some. A colourful video would help. I always thought it should've been the first single.(10/10)
I never liked 4 MINUTES at the beginning. Actually I don't like it very much yet, although it's proved to be a success around he world. Here in MTV LatinAmerica has been in the top ten for many weeks. (6/10)
Oh my God! GIVE IT 2 ME is a great song, very danceable and enjoyable. I don't like the part where she says "Get stupid...", though. Anyway, I think it's a very good song. I love the video too!(10/10).
HEARTBEAT is also a very good song, one of my favourite. It's the perfect combination of pop and hip hop. (9/10).
MILES AWAY. I love it, great ballad. I think it could've fitted the American Life album, it sounds like that, it belong more to that album than to Hard Candy. I hope it is a single too. Beautiful and touching lyrics. (10/10).
SHE'S NOT ME is a very good song, but there are 2 things I don't like about it. One: it's too long! Two: the part where she says "She is licking her lips..." It's like 31 seconds that I find very annoying, the rest is perfection. I do hope it is a single too, but an edit version without the annoying part. I think she should mix it with Thief Of Hearts (from the Erotica album) to sing it live on The Sticky And Sweet Tour. (9/10)
INCREDIBLE is not so good, I think. It begins good, but then...(7/10)
BEAT GOES ON. I like it, and I do love the rap by Kanye West. I hope it is a single too. (9/10).
DANCE 2NIGHT is very goooood! I love the chorus, for me it's like very disco or 70's. The rest is not very danceable, but the chorus is really worth it. Another single?(9/10).
SPANISH LESSON...no comments. (3/10).
DEVIL WOULDN'T RECOGNISE YOU is not exactly my thing. (5/10).
VOICES. I listened to it once or twice. I don't like it much. (3/10)
I hope Madonna comes to Peru on her next tour. Am I dreaming?
A Departure, without losing the essential Madonna Vibe July 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Like many of you out there, I have been a Madonna fan since I was in grade school, over 20 years ago. I've been through the ups and downs of her career, through all of the publicity stunts and changes of style. While I was hoping for another album similar to Confessions (which I LOVED), Hard Candy holds it's own. It is time for Madonna to enter the 21st Century and take a bit of a risk, a departure. That's exactly what she does with Hard Candy, but without losing that essential Madonna vibe/sound.
This CD has a very dance, pop hip-hop vibe. With masters like Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, you can't lose. While at times certain songs hit the wrong note, you've got to give her props for trying something a bit more modern and different than what she's ever done previously. Overall I'd say that JT is a genius in what he's done with this cd!
My favorite songs are: 4 Minutes, Devil Wouldn't Recognize You, Miles Away, Incredible, Voices and Give it to me.
I hope that this CD gives her back the spotlight here in the US. I feel it was WELL deserved after Confessions, but apparently due to pissing off the wrong people, it wasn't given the airplay. Unfortunately it's the fans that are losing out, because although in my opinion Music, Ray of Light and American Life were not great CDs, her last two are. So, if you're a doubtful fan, give Hard Candy a shot! I think again, both with Confessions and this CD that Madonna has gone back a bit to her roots with pop like dance songs. And if you haven't been a Madonna fan in the past but you like the typical dance stuff played on the radio, I'd suggest this CD to you as well. Overall, it's a hit!!
Not My Favorite Madonna Album July 4, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
A few songs are energetic and great, like the opening track. But many songs sound like bad generic disco, with paper-thin lyrics and listless vocals.
For a good time, buy "Ray of Light" or "Confessions on a Dance Floor" instead.
Or, go to some dance club where the DJ knows how to whip these tunes into better shape. Did I say "whip"? Mmmmmmm....
One of Madonna's best yet July 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really love this CD- it's full of energy- with the exception of 3 songs, the rest of the CD is highly addictive. This is one of her best- it blows Confessions away. I hope she releases more like this in the future.
