Album Description German dance compilation featuring the finest in trance music featuring such artists as Talvin Singh, Afterlife, A New Funky Generation, dZian and Kamien, Mandalay and many more. 15 tracks in all. 1999 release. Standard jewel case.
Amazon.com Eclectic, emotionally smart, and always engaging to the ear, Volume Six won't disappoint followers of the Del Mar series. After a curious slice of Talvin Singh's "Traveller" (Kid Loco's Once upon a Time in the East mix), Afterlife get the slow dusk grooves moving with the seductively vocalized "Dub In Ya Mind (Beach Club Mix)" before A New Funky Generation slip in some grooves as smooth and of-the-'70s as their name suggests with "The Messenger." However, Volume Six is often more poignant and melancholy than the usual Del mar compilation. dZihan & Kamien's "Homebase," while sporting an uptempo ambience, is spiritually destined for the subsonic bass groove of Deep Dish someday, and Humate's "3.2 Bedrock (Ambient Mix)" is the sort of ennui-filled dance music Madonna would be proud of. The hidden treasure on this volume is Moonrock's "111 Street Blues," a sumptuous downtempo stew of ambience, hip-hop, and ambient dub sensibilities. It helps make Volume Six the perfect destination for those seeking a spirited romantic beach vacation with their significant other in the living room. --Steffan Chirazi

The essence of downtempo; the essence of Ibiza November 13, 2007 One of CDM's best compilations - chilled & contemplative, but just enough variety to keep it interesting. It's hard to have a well-done CD w/o it either being too monotonous or too all-over-the-place. 'Volumen Seis' strikes the ideal balance.
The most notable tracks are the nonchalant, 'Distant Invitation' & 'Oh Home' featuring the emotional sounds of Ibiza legend, Cathy Battistessa.
I highly recommend this. If you're not familiar w/this genre or these compilations, 'Volumen Seis' & 'Cinco' are safe bets. Most excellent.
Slight Improvement Over Volume 5 of the Series July 30, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Jose Padilla and his endless repetoire of ambient tracks compiles number six in the Cafe Del Mar series.
Overall, I think this album has a better selection of tracks when compared to volume 5, but it's still not dud free. "Distant Invitation" by Rae & Christian, and "The Look of Love" by Dusty Springfield are below average in my opinion.
On the other hand, "Homebase" by Dzihan/Kamien is excellent. The others fall somewhere in between.
3.5/5 stars for volume 6.

Soothing! November 3, 2006 This is a great CD to listen to at work. It's a nice combination of soothing music and slightly up-tempo beats. Good stuff.

every single track on this CD is excellent. they all go together great, and this cd sets a great chillout mood.
