Editorial Reviews:

Album Details
Bim Sherman was a One of the Great Unsung Hero's of 70s Roots Music. From Westmoreland He Moved to Kingston and Managed to Scrape Money Together to Finance Small Runs of 45s that He Wrote with his Friend Bob West. Together They Fashioned a Series of 45s that were Released on Sherman's Own Labels Scorpio, Sun Dew and Red Sea. These 45s were Often Remixed and Re-voiced with Different Vocals When Sherman Had the Finance to Do So.. What We have Gathered on Tribulation is a Stunning Selection of his Most Sought after Rare and Exciting 45s. There have Been Other Sherman Compilations but Nothing We Believe Comes Close to this Set.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Six of one, half dozen of the other...   August 29, 2008
The vinyl version is enjoyable, filled with some fantastic tunes...my only problem is the way it was compiled. It has the potential to be a fabulous compilation, but hearing two or three versions of the same song in a row, gets very tiresome.

It is a double lp, there is plenty of room to spread the goods around. Sticking the vocal version, then followed by the dub version is unnessesary for a whole album.

Good...but could have been better!

5 out of 5 stars Supreme collection of Roots Reggae vocals   January 24, 2008
The Pressure Sounds label hits the spot once again with an extremely well-presented and intelligently compiled set which showcases the early career of roots reggae, cult hero, Bim Sherman. All tracks are presented here in their original mixes rather than the weak, "tampered with" and over-dubbed versions found on previous compilations which most listeners (including the previous reviewer) are familiar with. Ultra rare tracks which haven't been available before include the beautiful original 1975 mix of 'Tribulation', Jah Woosh's 'Love In The Ghetto' (an awesome cut to Bim's 'Love Forever' which is arguably Woosh's best ever track) and 'Everywhere You Go' (the correct dub cut to 'World Go Round' which is a heavyweight dub mix not found elsewhere. 'Everywhere You Go' is certainly worth the price of this release on its own. What also makes this collection so essential is that the dubs in particular are the original, powerful mixes rather than the rather lame takes found on the lacklustre EFA compilations. This is inspirational music - from the first track to the last - packaged in gorgeous artwork making this set the most essential reggae solo artist CD of 2007-08. Can we have some more?
