Looking for a magazine chock full 'o' proven how-to? Then look no further than Countryside.... April 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Countryside is always a welcome magazine in my mailbox. Countryside is my 'go-to' magazine for help with proven & simple farm, animal or gardening tips and solutions. Countryside written probably over 75% by the readers. They publish readers letters in every issue and other readers respond with their own proven & wallet-friendly answers. Why...even I had an answer letter published (about the hardy Tarentaise beef cattle)!! The reader answers are my favorite part of Countryside. There are always terrific & relevant answers to farm life, animal health, livestock questions, homesteading, gardening, organic life and even farm property issues. Countryside has proven contributing authors who write for Countryside as well, such as Heather Scott Thomas, Dave Holderread and other hands-on experts in their fields.
Countryside is put together on recycled paper stock, but with careful reading it will last for repeated referencing. The advertising doesn't swamp out the written content at all.
After 2 years Countryside continues to be one of my favorite magazine subscriptions. I love it and I think you will too!
*A side note, one of Countryside's sister publications is 'Backyard Poultry' it is a wonderful magazine as well.
LOVE THIS MAGAZINE!! April 10, 2008 I am so glad that I purchased this magazine! It is a delight to read it every time it is delivered! I go through every single page and constantly learn new things!
Countryside & Small Stock Journal March 25, 2008 I'm so glad I got this subscription! I've already renewed it & will again! A wealth of information for anyone rasing animals & trying to live the "good life". Loaded with reader information in every issue. That is pretty great! You always hear from readers who are living the life, what worked for them & what didn't. Everything from gardening, livestock, recipes, repairs, breadmaking, cheese making, chickesn, goats, plow horses, you name it! The inside is black & white newspaper style pages but it does have pictures. I look forward to each issue. If you are a homesteader, I'm sure you'll enjoy connecting with others through this magazine. You can even send in your own questions, projects, pictures, etc.
COUNTRYSIDE Magazine - A sure winner! October 30, 2007 I am a subscriber to this magazine. It is full of articles by the EXPERTS in country living - those who are living their dreams of self-sufficiency. I love it! It is my dream too. I am a observer, but still I find many pieces of information that apply to my everyday life. For instance, in a recent issue a reader shared that hard cooked eggs NEVER crack (well, hardly ever) when cooked with (a Tablespoon or two of) plain ordinary apple cider vinegar AND some salt added! Guess what? It works - this from EXPERTS! Well worth the subscription price for 6 issues (bimonthly). A down to earth, real life magazine written by those who do and KNOW. Reminds me of the old back issues of Mother Earth News issues alittle. Person to person with excellent editing covers issues and topics of interest.
A wealth of information.... November 8, 2005 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
This magazine is not your usual one with glossy-pages, full of advertisements with long-lashed, heavily made up models. It is printed on recycled paper and if full of articles from readers and the publisher.
It is like a library full of information on self-reliant living. I keep all of my copies for reference, because I return to each one constantly.
You'll find everything from how to make your own yogurt [it was easy and delicious] to how to build your own log home.
Great reading, great publication.
