Nabakov would not read the NY Times which he thought intellectual pretentiousness . Instead he loved the 'New York Daily News' with its yellow -page screaming scandalous cheap headlines.
I remember the Daily News in the old days when its competition was the 'Daily Mirror' which we preferred. Grantland Rice among others wrote for the 'Mirror'.
I look at the 'Daily News ' occasionally- in great part because of its hard-hitting patriotic American political line. I also like because it is very pro- Israel.
Enjoy it nostagically with coffee and a doughnut at the Automat or Chock- full-o- Nuts.
