What happened? October 6, 2008 The first two seasons of Sunny contain some of the best written comedy to appear on television in years. The third season barely seems like the same show. The characters are all a bit off and the scenarios are far more outlandish than previous seasons. A few plots are brazenly pulled from other series and some of the episodes are very, very weak (I'm looking at you, Fatty McGoo). The once hilarious McPoyle family has worn out it's welcome by the end of the fourth episode. Don't get me wrong, Sunny is still a good show, I'm just disappointed because I'm not laughing nearly as hard or as often as I was during the first two seasons.
Always Sunny October 6, 2008 I love the show and couldn't wait to get it as soon as it came out on DVD. I was pleased that it shipped even before the release date, and it is in perfect condition!
Disappointing third season October 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Given the positive reviews and the first two seasons of this show, I was really excited about the third season coming out. Sadly, I think the show has lost a lot of what made it great. Seasons 1 and 2 were certainly outlandish, but (mostly) believable. The humor hinged on the character interactions and performances. Season 3 trades the sharp wit of seasons 1 and 2 for things like not funny stereotyped Koreans and unrealistic acid trips. Frank's character moves from being a sadistic/vitriolic/cowardly sob to nothing more than a clown.
So sad, hopefully they'll get back on track for the next season.
An Absolute Gem October 3, 2008 Simply the funniest television show going around at the moment. Mac, Charlie, Dennis, Sweet Dee and Frank are back doing their best to wreak havoc and screw each other over at any moment they can. And they NEVER EVER learn a lesson at the end of each episode. Thay just get worse.
PS Can someone please give the McPoyles their own spin off series. Hilarious.
Never a let down September 30, 2008 If you are a fan of always sunny, you will not be let down at all. Another stellar season. The extras are pretty good, the only thing I wish was different that they would have put optional commentary on all of the episodes.
