Description The story centers on a young girl whose desire for a household pet is quashed when her mother marries a man with severe allergiesto animal hair. when she happens upon a monkey in need of help, she rescues it and harbors it secretly.
Amazon.com A movie only a kid could love, which was the whole point. Harvey Keitel plays a small-time thief who performs as an organ grinder on the boardwalk at Venice Beach. His scam involves his monkey, which has been trained to pick pockets. Now a mob boss wants to borrow the monkey to pull off some big scores--but the monkey runs away and is adopted by a lonely little girl (Thora Birch). She finds herself in increasingly hot water when her new pet starts bringing her the valuables of everyone in the neighborhood. Birch is a natural young actress, while Keitel hams it up shamelessly (he reportedly made the film to amuse his young daughter). --Marshall Fine

Monkey Trouble August 10, 2008 Brought this movie for the kids and they love it and watch it over and over again. If you have't got it then buy it for your kids, they'll love it.
MNReview October 2, 2007 A fun story for kids - what movie with a money isn;t?? (I gave it as a gift with the book.)
This movie is mon-crazy!!! May 7, 2007 2 out of 9 found this review helpful
I have mixed feelings about this movie. On one hand, it's an enjoyable kids movie that's somewhat entertaining. On the other hand, it sends a very negative message to our youth. It's all fun and games until halfway through the movie where Dodger gains mutant powers from eating a toxic banana after sneaking into a government bio engineering plant and decides to use his powers for evil rather than good. Eva gets sick and Dodger decides to rob a bank to pay the medical bills. Jean Claude Van Dam is a special forces agent working to stop the monkey in time (I think he's a pretty good actor). There is a plot twist that's somewhat good but I won't spoil it here. I recommend picking up "Slam Dunk Ernest" instead.
I love this movie!!!! October 13, 2004 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
this is that kind of movie where you could sit there all weekend watching it over and over and over again!
Cute movie! May 25, 2004 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This was a cute movie-and it's pretty good all except for a few words. If you have the TV Guardian, then this will be acceptable for all ages to see. It's funny. Eva hides a monkey who is the pet of a crook and has been taught to steal. Eva is getting blamed for the robberies, and when she tells people that it's her monkey causing the trouble, even her parents won't believe her! :0 All in all, it's a great movie and remember, everything is not as it looks.
