Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Intel Core 2 Quad processor is the latest in cutting edge processor technology for the desktop PC. Based on the Intel Core micro-architecture, the Intel Core 2 Quad processor delivers four complete execution cores within a single processor, delivering unprecedented performance and responsiveness. More instructions can be carried out per clock cycle, shorter and wider pipelines execute commands more quickly, and improved bus lanes move data throughout the system faster. Four dedicated, physical threads help operating systems and applications deliver additional performance, so you can experience better multi-tasking and multi-threaded performance across many types of applications and workload. A 4-pin connector is included for fan speed control to help minimize the acoustic noise levels generated from running the fan at higher speeds for thermal performance. 5 out of 5 stars Good CPU   June 27, 2008
Does all that I expected. I have not used this processor for long but so far I am very pleased with it. It is a very stable and tough processor. I have run it pretty hot with no problems yet.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent CPU   June 26, 2008
This processor works flawlessly and runs cool even in a room that is in the mid 80s. It is much faster than my 3.6 Ghz Pentium 4 cpu that I replaced it with. I am running it on a Ga-x48-DQ6 Gigabyte motherboard with 4 Gig of Gskill memory in a VX4000 Thermaltake case with a Sapphire HD 3870 graphics card. The case has a large fan in the front and the rear and a mid size fan on the side and is a very cool running case. My girl friend has almost the same setup in the same case with the same cpu and it runs very cool too.

5 out of 5 stars it is fast   June 18, 2008
I put these on my gaming machine and i can run almost every game and app with no problem, exept for crysis but i am asuming the problem there is the video card not the processor

5 out of 5 stars So fast you barely see the boot screen.   June 11, 2008

If you are going to update to this processor you might as well just get a new rig. Your mobo needs to support Quad processing to have this. This means if you have a Pentium 4 machine or a Duo, leave it as is and concentrate on a completely new system instead. Now is the time to upgrade anyway so for most this spells a new PC. Many of the latest games such as Crysis, COD4 and Bioshock put demands even on high-end rigs. To top it off you need Vista for Directx 10 (only 9 is available on XP) and it in turn is processor demanding. The Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 turns these problems on their head. Combine this processor with the GeForce 8800 and up to 4GB of RAM and you will be running top end games on their best settings. Overclock and you max those settings out but even without overclocking this processor is very satisfactory. Vista can boot in under 30 seconds. Office opens instantly and PDF files with 300 pages of color can be page flipped throughout without any freezing or visible refreshing. Oh yeah and in case you missed it did we add that it is so fast you barely see the boot screen? That says it all.

5 out of 5 stars Monster CPU   June 4, 2008
I was able to OC this CPU from 2.4GHz to 3.73GHz with air cooling. This is just amazing.
