And because it uses flash memory instead of a hard drive (with 16 GB of storage), the Eee PC 900 is optimal for weathering rough handling and sharing space in overstuffed bags.
The Asus Eee PC 900's 8.9-inch screen is easier on the eyes, and the integrated webcam makes video chats a snap. | Other features include a 1.3-megapixel webcam integrated into the bezel above the LCD, a Secure Digital memory card slot, Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g), multiple USB ports, a VGA output for connecting to a monitor, and 1 GB of RAM. Tech Support / Warranty Return sucks November 23, 2008 The title says it all: Tech Support / Warranty Return sucks. It took several calls and all of a day to finally get an RMA. Asus has had the unit (PC 900 XP)in their hands now for two weeks -- I've heard nothing from them about status of repair or about the return of repaired/replacement unit.
Compact, cute and SLOW November 23, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased my EEE 900 for 369. Happy with its size. Easy to carry. Disappointed with its speed. Seems quite slow compared to my desktop. If you're used to faster than 900 speed you'll be disappointed when you expect this machine to function as your desktop does. Have researched CPU upgrades and they are minimal. No easy upgrades available because the CPU seems sodered in to the motherboard so upgrades require alot of work.
Good device, though not perfect November 16, 2008 pros: lightweight, slim, really portable. Good screen, sufficient amount of USB ports.
cons: two hours battery life is not that much. Windows operation is a kind of slow. May be one can optimize that but that's what one get out of the box. Keys are small and touch typing will be difficult for the first time.
handy little computer November 16, 2008 This little computer is exactly what it says it is: small, easy to carry around, and with limited capacity. It is very convenient for trips, where you want to keep up with email etc. via wifi at hotels and coffee shops, etc., but don't want to bring your regular computer along. The battery doesn't stay charged as long as might be nice, but that's not crucial. Also, as others have said, its small size results in a keyboard that's a little tricky to get used to. But that goes with the territory. In sum, it is cute and handy. And since it's fairly cheap, if something happens to it, it's not a huge loss.

Not As Listed November 11, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This specific model does NOT possess the wonderful Asus SSD that makes the other EEE products so quick (even though they claim it does. I confirmed this with ASUS directly). It has a 16GB SD card soldered in place. That means it's read/write speeds are ABSURDLY slow and this thing behaves like a laptop from the dark ages. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MODEL. Purchase one of the models with 20g (they actually have a 4GB SSD from which the operating system runs, making them WAY faster for a small price difference.), or a 901.
