Amazon.com Product Description The HP Pavilion s7310n Slimline desktop PC gives you all the power of a fully loaded home/office desktop in a sleek, silvery gray chassis that's one-third the size of a traditional PC tower, enabling you to place it unobtrusively anywhere--from your office to entertainment center to kitchen. It's a great choice for everything from working on your family's finances to storing and playing an extensive multimedia library (including photos, home video from your camcorder, and all your music). It features a large 160 GB hard drive, 512 MB of installed RAM (2 GB max), 1.5 GHz Intel Celeron M processor 370, LightScribe dual layer DVD burner (also compatible with writing CDs), multi-format memory card reader, a wide variety of connectivity options (including both USB 2.0 and FireWire), and Windows XP Home Edition. The Basics - Hard Drive: The 160 GB hard drive (7200 RPM) is very large in size compared to other budge-conscious, family-oriented desktop PCs. It provides a good size for a wide range of software applications and a generously sized digital audio library as well as room enough for editing digital home video.
- Processor: The Intel Celeron M Processor 370 is traditionally designed specifically for mobile computing, but the 370 enables the SlimLine s7310n to keep cool even when multitasking. The 1.5 GHz speed resides near the very top of the spectrum for this processor (as of January 200). It also features a 400 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and large 1 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance.)
- Memory: The 512 MB of installed RAM (PC3200, 2 x 256 MB) is a good start for running office productivity and audio software, but you'll want to take advantage of the ultra-roomy 2 GB of total RAM capacity (2 x 1 GB) for such multimedia needs as video editing and immersive 3D gaming.
- CD/DVD Drive: Offering the latest in DVD writing technology, the s7310n's multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer (DL) DVD+/-R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. It features 4x DVD-R DL Write Once, 2.4x DVD+R DL Write Once, 16x DVD+R, 4x DVD+RW, 8x DVD-R, 4x DVD-RW, 16x DVD-ROM, 40x CD-R, 24x CD-RW, and 40x CD-ROM speeds. It also comes with a second DVD-ROM optical drive, with 16x read speed. It also comes with an extra DVD-ROM drive for disc playback only.
This LightScribe DVD+/-RW drive lets you laser-etch silkscreen quality text and images on to CDs and DVDs . Your software, PC and discs work together for a no-hassle way to burn just the labels you want. After you burn content, just flip the disc over, reinsert and burn your label--anything from a simple title to a full-disc work of art . The m7250n also comes with a second optical drive--a 16x DVD-ROM.
- Keyboard & Mouse: It comes with an HP multimedia keyboard and scroller mouse (both with PS/2 connections).
Graphics and Sound Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900, which uses Intel Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT) and provides up to 128 MB of shared video memory. This desktop also features the integrated Intel High Definition audio chip (Azalia), featuring THX certification and 8 channels for full Dolby 5.1/6.1/7.1 surround sound with Dolby Pro Logic IIx. Connectivity and Expansion Slots For expansion, the s7310n has one PCI slot (occupied), one 5.25-inch external bay (occupied), and one internal 3.5-inch bay (occupied). It comes with a built-in floppy drive and the following external connectors: - 5 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players (1 in front, 4 in rear)
- 1 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) port for connecting digital video camcorders and other peripherals
- 2 PS/2 ports for connecting keyboards and mice
- 1 VGA monitor port
- 9-in-1 media card reader on the front, compatible with CompactFlash (Type I and II), MicroDrive, SmartMedia, Memory Stick/Memory Stick Pro, MultiMedia Card, Secure Digital, and XD Picture Card
- 1 headphone
- 1 microphone
- 1 line-in
It also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems). Preloaded System and Software This system comes with the Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 operating system with Advanced Security Technologies, which helps to reduce unwanted downloads and pop-ups while surfing the Web. It also comes preloaded with Microsoft Works 8.0 (for working with word processing and spreadsheet documents), HP Image Zone Plus, Symantec Norton Internet Security 2005 AntiSpyware Edition (with 60 days of LiveUpdate), Encarta Encyclopedia 2005, Quicken New User Edition 2005, Microsoft Money 2005, Sonic DigitalMedia Plus, Sonic MyDVD Plus, WinDVD 5 Player Basic, Google Toolbar, and PC Doctor. The included HP Image Zone Plus photo and imaging software makes it easy to organize, edit, share, print, protect, and store your photos and video clips. Organize and find your photos easily by timeline, keywords, and/or location using the unique photo-globe mapping tool. Remove red eye and fix other common problems. Share your photos quickly via e-mails that include thumbnails with links to the full-sized images--without downloading time-consuming attachments. Dimensions and Weight This desktop measures 9.75 x 4.375 x 13.125 (HxWxD) and weighs 14.2 pounds. What's in the Box The Pavilion s7310n desktop PC comes with a power cord, keyboard, and scroller mouse. It is backed by a one-year warranty for parts and labor from date of purchase, one-year technical phone service, and 90 days of software application support.

Goes bad FAST May 9, 2008 Positive - it's little, easy to place on your desk, ports galore.
Cons - Goes bad fast.
I've had mine for a little over a year. In that time period: the power fried itself, the cd/dvd drive had to be replaced, replacment cd/dvd drive will only open when computer is on it's side, wireless internet will only connect when computer is standing up, card reader (sd, ect) will only read cards that are NOT empty, cd/dvd drive will not recognize an empty disk, will not burn dvds (only cds). The power went out about the same time that the first cd/dvd drive wouldn't open anymore - within the first couple months, so it was still under warranty (2 WEEKS left) and the company fixed it no problems. Didn't even have to pay shipping - they take care of that. All the other stuff happened after, so there's nothing to do about it. Full size computer, I could fix and replace hardware. This thing is too small. Everything is jammed and packed in there. It's impossible to get to anything without taking out half the components.
Oh, and don't fall for the "only a little more money and you can have the flat-screen monitor." Mine quit after only 4 months.
Go with a regular-sized computer or get a laptop with easy-to-replace hardware compartments.
THIS WAS A RIP-OFF - HP needs to fix a LOT of things before I would recommend this to anyone.
