PERFECT September 26, 2008 I bought this Kensington Blue Tooth USB Adapter to allow me to synchronize my Palm Centro Smart Phone with my HP 64 bit laptop computer. The Palm Centro Smart Phone is not compatible with 64 bit computers and the tech support at Palm said the company is working to develop a compatible software, but that a blue tooth synch would be the alternative. So I researched online and found this Kensington, which I installed on my computer last night. Installation was a snap on my HP Windows Vista computer and the phone was immediately recognized by the computer once Kensington was installed. The hot synch went flawlessly and I am now able to enjoy the benefits of this blue tooth technology with my Palm Smart Phone, which will be my preference for doing the hot synch, even after the compatible software is released. I would highly recommend this blue tooth adapter.
Works, but installation is difficult for VISTA September 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well after 4 hours I finally got this to work in VISTA Home Premium. You go to http://us.kensington.com/html/1492.html and download Kensington Bluetooth USB Adapter 2.0 (Rev. 5.1.0.1700 and Rev. 6.0.1.5100)
Now, I tried to execute the http://update.broadcom.com/downloads/btwinitialupdate.exe
6 times and kept getting VISTA errors that the attempt failed. I then tried to install the Toshiba stack on the Kensington website, and naturally that failed. I quit the Toshiba installation (while the adapter was still plugged in) and then retried btwinitialupdate.exe
This time it started to execute. So I am guessing that you need to have the adapter installed in order for the software to run. I can't remember if I had tried it that way the times when I got the error messages. Now, about half of the software installed and half of it failed. I was getting pretty discouraged when I saw the "failed" error messages. Also, I kept getting VISTA windows popping up saying that it couldn't find the software, that there were compatibility errors, ick.
So I rebooted and double clicked on the BT icon that now appeared in the task bar. I added my cell phone as a device and the rest of the BT software drivers installed successfully for that device. Weird!
I was able to use dial-up with the cell phone and it worked just fine. Since this is the main app I am interested in I am OK with this adapter at this time. I am glad I got it to work.KENSINGTON 33348 Bluetooth USB 2.0 Adapter
Made my Mac Bluetooth ready January 28, 2008 This adapter is easy and does just what it advertises. Now my Mac and cell phone can talk to each other, just for a start.
Good choice September 6, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Works excellent with my Bluetooth headset Plantronics Voyager 510. Easy installation. If you need a driver for Vista it is available on Kensington official web site.
NOT RECOMMENDED September 5, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the KENSINGTON 33348 BLUETOOTH USB 2.0 ADAPTER thinking that was an excellent choice for a TOSHIBA A205 S4777 NOTEBOOK (which is without Bluetooth: what a shame). But this device never works with my IOGEAR USB 2.0 PRINTER ADAPTER. The Iogear technicians told me that their device was able to run or work with any Bluetooth devices in the market, and believe me that it is true. The technician from KENSINGTON never resolved my problem, I sent several communications that were answered very fast, I sent all my notebook file "mycomputerinfo" to Kensington for research and they are doing it now, looking for the problem or researching my technical case. For me as a senior Engineer I believe that Kensington has a really bad software for that USB Bluetooth device that works or run with windows vista 32 bit. They need to make a complete research with the new software. When I bought the Bluetooth it came with all the software for all windows OS except for Visa OS which I have had to download from their web page (the drivers for vista for the usb kensington bluetooth). I recommend this product for all users of Windows XP and also other versions with 32 bits. BUT THIS DEVICE "KENSINGTON USB BLUETOOTH" IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR WINDOWS VISTA USERS EVEN DOWNLOADING THE UPDATE THEY HAVE FOR VISTA. IT DO NOT RUN OR WORK WITH MY IOGEAR USB PRINTER DEVICE 2.0. SO, NOT COMPATIBLE FOR ALL VISTA USB BLUETOOTH DEVICES: NOT RECOMMENDED. I RETURNED the device YESTERDAY NIGHT TO THE SELLER THROUGH THE EXCELLENT SERVICE OF AMAZON. BY THE WAY the technicians of kensington were excellent in attention and fast. But the product is not ok I think that it is for the software. I hope this will help to everyone. Regards,
