Four external buttons automate the entire scanning process. In one step you can scan, copy or e-mail your choice of photos or documents. With the built-in 35 mm film adapter you can easily incorporate your negatives and slides into any project. Canon's integrated Quick Automatic Retouching and Enhancement technology (QARE) automatically removes dirt and scratches from images while STAD technology (Stabilized Tone-curve Auto Drawing) instinctively corrects tone and gamma fields and optimizes highlights and shadows. Richer, more robust images are at your fingertips. At every turn, you'll find features that make using the D1250U2F scanner a true pleasure. Canon's advanced Z-Lid expansion top lifts vertically and lays flat to create the space needed for bulky items, such as books or magazines, to ensure clear, high-quality scans. Innovative software included gives you the power to scan multiple photos at once and transfer them to CDs easily. The D1250U2F scanner features the state-of-the-art USB 2.0 interface for incredibly fast image transfer and scanning speeds that are up to 4X faster than USB 1.1-equipped Windows-based computers.

Amazon.com Product Description
Providing home users with stunningly professional results, the Canon D1250U2F combines crisp detail with a simple design that allows you true versatility in scanning both film and documents. With 1,200 x 2,400 dpi resolution and 48-bit color, scans are sharp and vibrant.

The scanner's flat bed handles pages up to 8.5 x 11 inches and 3-D objects such as books and magazines; a built-in film adapter handles 35mm negatives and slides. Once your originals are in place, you can e-mail, scan, or copy them at the touch of a button.

Fully compatible with PC systems (Windows 98 or higher, Pentium III recommended), the scanner connects via USB interface and comes complete with a software package that lets you design and manage your graphics. Canon's advanced technology automatically corrects tone and shadow, while also removing imperfections from the originals, so you're more likely to get the perfect scan the first time. The scanner is backed by a one-year warranty that covers parts and labor, and includes Instant Exchange service.

3 out of 5 stars Does not work well with XP   January 25, 2007
I have had this scanner for several years and it worked very well and does a nice job of scanning.

Any buyers should be warned that it will NOT work with XP with the included drivers. Even with new drivers, the scanner only works marginally often requiring a reboot of scanner and/or computer to scan a second document.

This scanner will sacan for you once there will be about a 2% chance that the image is not covered with lines. after that windows will pop up and say that the USB device is not regonized and youll have to uninstall and reinstall the drivers.

5 out of 5 stars Great scanner at a GREAT price   October 9, 2003

I love my scanner. I got it last Christmas and have been using it non-stop without any problems ever since. I did have a little trouble hooking it up at first, but it turned out that I wasn't reading the directions as well as I should have been. So that was my fault, not theres. It is easy to operate and I love the programs that come with! They are great for picture making! Great product! Very happy that I got it.

4 out of 5 stars Outstanding scans of platen materials...   October 6, 2003

I have used this scanner for a little over a year now, and it really provides incredible results on printed and other opaque materials. Colors are very true (perhaps a slight warming on the color-temperature, as others have mentioned), and sharpness is fantastic. The scan-times were relatively slow, but an upgrade to a USB 2.0 card on my computer (cost me about $20) solved that problem. Scans times are very acceptable now. I have never had much use for the OCR software, but it seems intuitive enough and does a decent job. The rest of the software is not used much either (aside from the drivers, of course). My only beef: the transparency scanner is not what it was cracked up to be. The few negative scans I have made did not come out so well, and the reported competency of the integrated transparency scanner was one of the selling points for me. Maybe this is as good as it gets for a flatbed with an adaptor, but if you really want to get good results with transparencies, get a dedicated film scanner.

5 out of 5 stars It is worth what I payed for it   August 22, 2003

I am pleased with the scanner and as far as I know it will do what it is suppost to do . If you by one you need to make sure that you have alot of ram because you will need it . I have not learned all the functions that it has but it has preformed well . I don't like the fact that canon does not have a toll free number to call if you need help .
