The HP Photosmart 7760 photo printer offers high performance direct photo printing in up to 6-ink color or up to 4800-optimized dpi. With an image LCD preview screen, it is so fast, convenient and easy to edit, enhance, preview and print memories - no PC required! Just slip your camera's memory card into a compatible slot, then use the 1/8-inch image LCD or the HP Photo Proof Sheet and top panel buttons to preview, edit, select, save and print your photos. And you get two built-in paper trays, making it easy to print both 4x6-inch and standard size prints with or without borders. Your printing options are so versatile - everything from high-quality photos that resist fading for generations - twice as long as traditionally-processed photos - to great everyday text.

Amazon.com Product Description
HP's PhotoSmart 7760 photo printer offers high-quality, convenient photo printing directly from your digital camera's memory card, or from your PC or Mac computer. With four built-in memory card slots, you can be guaranteed compatibility with virtually any camera--choose from CompactFlash (Type I and II) and Microdrive, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, Secure Digital, Multi Media Card, and xD-Picture Card media.

You can preview, edit, and enhance images even without a computer connection, thanks to the 1.8-inch color LCD and top panel control buttons, or select images from thumbnails printed on photo proof sheets, which can also be generated without a computer.

The PhotoSmart 7760 offers two USB ports--one on the back for connection to your PC or Mac and one on the front for plug-and-play connection to compatible cameras or even your laptop. Print speeds are variable, depending on the speed/quality mode selected, and range from up to 13 ppm for black printing (Fast Draft mode) to approximately 116 seconds for a 4-by-6-inch photo print (Best mode). Print speeds can be increased with the addition of the optional HP no. 56 black print cartridge.

4 out of 5 stars Good product - durable.   July 19, 2008
I've owned this printer for years now in an office environment and it's still going strong. It needs a cleaning now and again as the rollers stop feeding paper but it's quite easy to accomplish.

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME printer!   February 12, 2008
This printer IS wonderful. I love it.

We bought this about 2 years ago, refurbished from [..]. For the price, we didn't expect it to really last very long, but surprise - it's still working great! We have not had to replace inks yet. I use this to print out photos for scrapbooking and albums, and have used it for a few photo shoots. The picture quality is beautiful.

For people who do not like how their pictures turn out - try editing them first in a program such as Photoshop or GIMP. Do not resize the pictures if you are planning on printing them.

The only problem I have had is that it doesn't work when hooked up to a computer anymore. However, that was from a power outage (twice in an hour), not from anything wrong with the printer itself. I just print from a memory card now after editing photos.

The ink does take a few minutes to dry. Try low-gloss or semi-gloss photo paper instead of high gloss. The ink is very sticky if you try to touch the photos right away, even on the corner, so allow it to dry completely.

I have not had any problems with this trusty printer and would happily buy another.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect Printer!   February 16, 2007

This printer has TOP quality printing. I'm an artist and very very picky about what I use and this is my tool for getting the most of photography straight from my digital camera and corel painter art. I've had this printer for years now and it doesn't let me down at all. AA++ product!

1 out of 5 stars Constant cartridge failure makes this a terrible purchase.   December 14, 2006

My old HP Deskjet worked flawlessly for years, but when it wore out I had to decide on a new printer I waited for this one to arrive in the stores. What a waste of time and money! The printer cartridges continually fail and the quality of photographs and color printing is unpredictable at best. I have spent a small fortune on cartridges, all HP brand, no cheap or refilled cartridges, but I feel like a gambler in desparate need of rehab. I will move to another brand once I figure out what direction to go in, this has ended my trust in HP products for the forseeable future.

1 out of 5 stars Frustrating Cartridge Problems   October 6, 2006

This printer was very nice for the first month we owned it - nice pictures with the photo printing cartridge. Then, we had the first cartridge "failure" and it has been downhill since. Nearly brand new cartridges fail, producing horrible prints and wasting large amounts of money. All of our attempts to get help from HP did not solve the problem and now we don't even bother trying to fix the failed print cartridges. They still work, just make awful looking print outs with lines through them. I don't feel like throwing away another 30 bucks just to have the nearly full cartridge fail in a couple of weeks! Remember when HP was a sign of a quality printer? I'm starting to forget too!
