Product Description
OATHS SWORN . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide.

Following the colossal battle against the Empire?s warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.

First is Eragon?s oath to his cousin Roran: to help rescue Roran?s beloved, Katrina, from King Galbatorix?s clutches. But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength?as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices? choices that take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.

Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once-simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king?

5 out of 5 stars Brisingr   October 15, 2008
Simply an amazing read. You cannot put it down!!! Can't wait for the fourth book.

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!   October 15, 2008
Wow, he has really stepped it up in this book. As much as I was disappointed that there will be a fourth book I am actually excited about it too. I started reading this series because of my neices and nephew but I have really enjoyed it for myself. Having grown up in Montana myself I understand much about the landscape the book was based on. For parents who might read this, this book is a little more graphic in the violence but I don't know that it is excessive. It is speaking about war after all. I really feel it is no problem for teenagers. There is no sex, drugs and foul language that saturates most of the other media found today. Really a great book and hope others find it so also. Thanks again to Amazon for the lowest price guarantee which got me the best deal on my book.

5 out of 5 stars a sure bet   October 15, 2008
wow oh wow! i was exicited to get this in my hands. im not a big fan of fantasy novels...but i got hooked on this writer. and amazon.com was there to help me make it easy to order, and read. even before my friends . it's just plain fun, when all you have to do is order and read. it was here before they said it would be. the journey of these charaters, are a worthy cause for adventures. and i hear that there is a fourth and final part of this series. so i'll be waiting !

5 out of 5 stars Good, though a little long-winded   October 15, 2008
I just finished reading Brisingr, and must say I enjoyed this book very much, and am impatient to read the next and hopefully last book of the series. 'Hopefully last' only because I want to see how it all ends and not because it's not a good story. I did find that some parts were overly long, and dragged a little. The sword-making bit, Christopher, if you're reading this, really was unnecessary to go on for so many pages! It's obvious that it's only been put in because of the amount of research you probably put in. I hope you will resist the urge in the final book :)

There was one tiny but glaring mistake: when someone says/thinks "he could care less" - the common error made in colloquial English, when the person actually means "he couldn't care less".

Otherwise I admire your skills and maturity of writing, very well done!

4 out of 5 stars An entertaining story...   October 15, 2008
I had read some of the previous amazon reviews and I prepared myself for the worst. Well I actually enjoyed this book a lot and read it in a couple of days. I agree with most that his writing has matured. With regards to Paolini's influences, he has always worn on them on his sleeve - he makes little effort to conceal them. The story was entertaining enough. Is it the great next piece of literature? No, but he doesn't pretend that it is either. A lot of people complain of the wordiness of some parts... Have you read Nanvy Novik's Temerarie series or even Tolkien?
If you have enjoyed the series pick it up. If your thinking about starting just remember he started writing when he was 14 and if you see the amazon videos Paolini is still that geeky kid (like me) who enjoys fantasy!
