Product Description Do you dream of retiring to a small island with beautiful beaches, warm sunshine, relaxing in a hammock with gentle, tropical breezes caressing your skin? Have you ever done something impulsive that turned out to be a great experience? In "The Reluctant Innkeeper," discover what happens when two inexperienced Yankees sail into the laid-back vibe of the Bahamas and how the journey changes their lives forever. Geraldine Sylvester and her husband, Bob, thought they'd bought a little piece of paradise when they purchased a small inn on Guana Cay in the Bahamas. Little did they realize the trials, heartbreak, hurricanes, friendship, and joy that were in store for them as they worked to make the inn a profitable venture. From weddings to funerals, creative bar drinks, gallons of paint, Byzantine government regulations, camaraderie, and the often puzzling dialect of the local residents, "The Reluctant Innkeeper" chronicles the everyday events of life in paradise.

Have you heard of spellcheck!!!!! September 30, 2008 I am trying to slog through this tedious book that is all over the place. What kills me are the major typos glaring at me in the chapter titles - Is the In running us? Immigartion? Yikes, did you ever hear of spell check? And frankly, if Bob and Gerry came to my island and started to try to teach me what they consider proper grammar (yuh, Gerry, take a look at your own sentence structure first!) by SCREAMING at me, Gerry's own words by the way, I would have them deported. I probably won't finish and swear I will never buy a vanity published book again.
slander September 18, 2008 Mrs. Sylvester has written a journal that would interest no one except the author. She's vindictive and gossipy and tells many untruths. She lives partime on a lovely little island that deserves better press than she is willing to give. I mistakenly checked one star when the book deserves none.
Not unbiased, but true July 2, 2008 This is not an unbiased review, as I helped Gerry create this wonderful book. That said, I love this book and can surely see it in your beach bag this summer and in someone's stocking at Christmas, because after you read it you will certainly want to share it with others! While you are at it, read Gerry's first book, WINDY HILL, to become better acquainted with many of Gerry's friends and family who make THE RELUCTANT INNKEEPER such a fun read.
