Product Description Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetite. He's the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover-for inside him burns a ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin.
Possessed by this dark side, Rhage fears the times when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him. When Mary Luce is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world, she must rely on Rhage's protection. Knowing that Mary feels the same intense animal attraction, Rhage must make her his alone...

LOVE Rhage, but a bit disappointed at the ending September 27, 2008 Rhage has always been the sexiest of the brothers for me, and Ward has written a very good second book, further developing her back story and cleverly laying the groundwork for future books (John/Darius, Zsadist, etc.).
However, I was just a bit disappointed at the ending.
*** SPOILER BELOW -- DO NOT READ ON IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW! ***
Since I think Rhage is simply sex on legs, my pleasure at finishing the book was dimmed by learning that he would never be producing any baby vampires due to Mary's illness. Trivial, perhaps, but it seems like an unnecessary downer: if Mary's health can be restored, why not her fertility?
RHAGE AND MARY ARE GREAT.LOVE THIS BOOK!! September 23, 2008 This is one of the best books i have read in a long time. i have fallen in love with Rhage. he is my favorite brother. If you thought Dark Lover was great... this will blow your mind. just like the other Black Dagger Brotherhood books. BUY IT!!! YOU WILL LOVE IT!
Great sequel ruined by lame heroine September 20, 2008 I just did a re-read, and although I LOOOOOOVE the series and the Brotherhood and the supporting characters (not too fond of Jane, actually), I could hardly get through this re-read due to lamo Mary. She's soooooo annoying and pathetic. She's constantly putting herself down and assuming Rhage doesn't like her because he's hot and she's not. She's boring and cross and an old fuddy duddy. I can't believe a dynamic, fun character like Rhage fell for HER. Ick. But at least the story continued with the other characters. I cried at the scenes with John and Tohr. Even though I'd read it before, I flew through the scenes with Z and Bella. Man...soooo good there. Can't wait to re-read that book. Bottom line is that the BDB is one of the best series I've ever read. I just can't stand plain ol' boring Mary.
SO Disappointed ! Chapter 28 ruined this book for me !! September 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really liked the first book in this series (Dark Lover) so I was looking forward to reading the entire series. However, that cheating scene in chapter 28 ruined it for me in a very big way. The "reason" why he cheated didn't justify it for me either. I forced myself to finish that chapter but was just more pissed when Mary went on to sleep with him in anger. The first time the characters (in any book) make love is usually an anticipated moment of the story line for me but after that I scene I was just pissed off and didn't care anymore.
I cried and laughed and fell in love................ August 31, 2008 This author is brilliant and very creative and I'm going to read every last one of her books!
J.R. Ward has done an outstanding job with this story. I laughed in so many parts where the characters remarks were so to the "T" of what they would have said. I cried in so many parts for the love that J.R. Ward puts into her characters. I'm so happy there are so many more books of this series because I just can't put them down.
