 Romantic but with adventure July 24, 2008
This book is great. It has all the romantic stuff that any reader would like but there is also adventure. I would suggest this series to any fan of the light and the dark, demons and angels, gods, and other magical things.
 Not as Good as the First...... July 24, 2008
So maybe I like my leading ladies a bit softer........I just didn't care for Anya. She was just too crass, needy, tough, and abrasive for my tastes. It is only this that makes me rate this a 3 star. If this type of girl is your type of girl...this book is a strong 5 star!
Lucien is really to die for. I much preferred his character to Anya's. He is the tortured type (which I love!). He resists his attraction to Anya for much of the first half of the book (usually unsuccessfully) and the battle between "is he going to kill her of make love to her" is fun to read.
If only I had liked Anya. The book explains why she is the way she is, but I never really felt a connection with her, which is necessary for me as a reader. Good luck with this one.....it's a great series, wonderful writing, and I will definitely stand in line to get my hands on the next one!

The Lord of the Underworlds are really enjoyable and a quick read because they are so good. I actually enjoy reading all of Gena Showalter's books!

The last thing I need right now in my life is a hot romance novel (when I can't do anything about what it stirs up) but OMG...this book is great. I have to now read every single book in the series just to see if she keeps up the tempo. I may have to take a cold shower after each chapter though...

I disliked this author - and had to force myself to buy the first one. I was so pleased with it - I went out the next day and bought book 2 and 3 at full price! So far I feel like it was a waste. I should have used a coupon or bought at Target. This book is technically good, but I skipped through the last 50 pages just to get find out. Lucian is no where near the baddie you thinnk and Anya is just plain annoying between the lollipop, the sex attempts etc.

I think this was a decent read, and I'll struggle through the third book, but it won't go on my keeper shelf.
