Product Description
"Softly he brushed my cheek, then held my face between his marble hands. ''Be very still,'' he whispered, as if I wasn''t already frozen. Slowly, never moving his eyes from mine, he leaned toward me. Then abruptly, but very gently, he rested his cold cheek against the hollow at the base of my throat. " As Shakespeare knew, love burns high when thwarted by obstacles. In Twilight, an exquisite fantasy by Stephenie Meyer, readers discover a pair of lovers who are supremely star-crossed. Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because--he''s a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But, Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the novel burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous and necessarily chaste relationship.Meyer has achieved quite a feat by making this scenario completely human and believable. She begins with a familiar YA premise (the new kid in school), and lulls us into thinking this will be just another realistic young adult novel. Bella has come to the small town of Forks on the gloomy Olympic Peninsula to be with her father. At school, she wonders about a group of five remarkably beautiful teens, who sit together in the cafeteria but never eat. As she grows to know, and then love, Edward, she learns their secret. They are all rescued vampires, part of a family headed by saintly Carlisle, who has inspired them to renounce human prey. For Edward''s sake they welcome Bella, but when a roving group of tracker vampires fixates on her, the family is drawn into a desperate pursuit to protect the fragile human in their midst. The precision and delicacy of Meyer''s writing lifts this wonderful novel beyond the limitations of the horror genre to a place among the best of YA fiction. (Ages 12 and up)

Amazon.com Review
The book that started the phenomenon is now available in a deluxe collector's edition! Featuring a ribbon bookmark, cloth cover, ragged edges, new chapter opener designs, and a beautiful protective slipcase, this edition is perfect for fans and collectors alike.

Bella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Bella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Bella, the person Edward holds most dear.

Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

5 out of 5 stars Great Book   October 15, 2008
This is a great story about vampires as well as the power of love. I bought this book and the other 3 books in the Twilight Saga and finished them in 8 days. That is how captivating the story is. Everyone that has every been in love or is wanting to find love, will be swept away into the world of all the Twilight characters that Stephenie Meyer has created for us. This truly is a GREAT book (and series)!!!!!

3 out of 5 stars Its not Shakespeare but.....   October 15, 2008
I admit I didn't want to actually purchase this book because I had heard one of two things..A)Best book ever written or B)Most waste of time ever written. In actuality the book isn't half bad, yes there is an overuse of the word "perfect" and yes the main character "Bella" does have a preoccupation with distancing herself from everyone. Compared to most of the "rich girls with to much money being biatchy to each other" YA litature out there, it is something different.
I think the thing to remember is that this is not Interview with a Vampire people, it is a collection of books written for the under 16 set, its not meant to make statements or change lives. I think it harkens back a lot to the "Angel/Buffy" romance (though Angel MUCH HOTTER then Edward).
The main issue I had with the writer is that she rips alot off from the "Roswell" series, including the whole "I saved your life even though now my whole family may be in trouble" and the "4 beautiful siblings that dont eat or sleep".
This is what happens when a single mom in England writes a killer series, now every housewife in America thinks their the next Bronte.

5 out of 5 stars Best book ever!   October 15, 2008
Completely captivating and makes you want to read the whole thing in one sitting. Love the series, although this is by far the best of the bunch!

4 out of 5 stars Yummy reading!   October 14, 2008

I just finished the entire Twilight saga, and I loved reading every page of it. I really tried to hold off on finishing it so that Bella, Edward, Jacob and the rest could actively stay in my life, but I could not stave off the number that the suspense was doing to me, so I reluctantly read till the end.
Why did I love the entire saga? And what is Twilight's part in it? Well, first and foremost, I would say that Stephenie Meyer is an excellent storyteller. There is little that is left out for the reader's imagination to feast upon. Meyer said that she saw the entire thing like she was watching a movie, and this was also truthful for me. Meyer has a knack for painting a clear picture for you, and part of your mind becomes like an empty house where these characters and their story moves in.
Edward Cullen is simply magnificent as a brooding, sexy man, not unlike Jane Austen's Mr. Darcy. Bella is his vulnerable and clumsy object of love which summarily vaults him to a god-like level. It is this introduction into the dynamic between Edward's powerfulness and Bella's vulnerability that drives the character aspect of this novel while the plot emphasizes these characteristics. All the while, you will discover that Bella is really powerful, too, and although Edward treads carefully around her weakly human self, he is impressed by the strength in her humanity as well.
Edward has his weaknesses, too, and you'll see those more in the following novels, but in Twilight, he simply shines. I think many will fall in love with Edward Cullen through this novel just like Bella did, and I wouldn't be surprised if Stephenie Meyer intended that!
