2 out of 5 stars Eh, let's hope this expriment is dead   November 17, 2008
I've been and remain an avid Terry Brooks reader, I've got every book in hard back on my shelf, but this "experiment" with a graphic novel was a big disappointment. It wasn't that I didn't find interest in the story, it was actually very appealing, but the format was horrible, it made the story move way too fast, and within 1 hour I was through it and it was collecting dust; a pure first for a TB fan and a big let down.

4 out of 5 stars Terry does it again   September 30, 2008
The Dark Wraith of Shannara adds to Terry Brook's many acomplishments.
I like the difference this book adds to his original novels.
...and who didn't want to know if Garret Jax would ever make it back into another story!

2 out of 5 stars Poor art   August 23, 2008
If you are going to make a graphic novel, hire an artist that can tell the difference between feline (cat), ursine (bear) and canine (dog.) I was disapointed when the Marsh cat looked like the Ursine type creature, but when the werebeasts had the same face and head, again, I was disgusted. Some of the artwork was ok, but not strong enough for the format.

3 out of 5 stars Anime meets Shannara   August 7, 2008

The book is an illustrated version of Brook's new Shannara book. IMHO, it doesnt' work. Every page is a dark anima illustration which detracts from the written images that the previous Shannara books paint in the mind of the reader. Not a bad book, but the illustrations are a step down from the rich descriptive prose of the previous Shannara series.

4 out of 5 stars Interesting Take on this Fantasy Series   July 17, 2008
Terry Brook's new graphic novel, and his first, The Dark Wraith of Shannara has beautiful art work and an interesting story line that fits in right between Wishsong and Scion of Shannara. The only downside to Brook's new book is that it leaves something more to be desired, the story does seem to go very quick, but it's a bit understandable since he was only allowed 196 pages to work with. If you're an avid Brook's fan get this, it helps complete the series. But if you're starting off, I'd wait in till you've been into the series a little bit more.
