Product Description A Carpathian event-the new hardcover from the phenomenal New York Times bestselling author. Christine Feehan returns to the sensual Carpathian world that has earned her a reputation as "the queen of paranormal romance" (USA Today) in a new novel of true love and the unnatural forces that could destroy it. Dangerously close to becoming a vampire, Manolito De La Cruz has been called back to his Carpathian homeland-and has unexpectedly caught the scent of his destined lifemate, MaryAnn Delaney. MaryAnn is human and well aware of the aggressive instincts of Carpathian males. A counselor for battered women, MaryAnn has no room in her life for someone like Manolito. But when she goes to South America to offer guidance to a young woman, she has no idea of the trap awaiting her. For she's been lured there by Manolito, who has seductive plans for the irresistible human female. Once there, she'll be his. Once his, she'll never be released. She is his dark possession.

So-So. September 27, 2008 What started out as a fabulously refreshing take on my favorite series turned into another form. It's meticulously written with beautiful language, but there are flaws in my own eye. Mary Ann had the ability to be a very engaging character with an incredible secret that starts to change Manolito. I was very disappointed that Ms. Feehan, with the option of flip-floping the usual plot line (the woman changes the man), stuck to her guns and did something we had seen fifteen times before hand. I thought there was so much interesting potential in their love, but I was a little disappolinted. The book also felt very rushed. There wasn't enough time to scratch the surface of Mary Ann's character or situation, and Manolito just kind of... let things go his way, even though there was a wonderful path that he could have gone down. It's a so-so book. Nice for a short read, but I will probably never read it again. I recomend Dark Prince, Dark Magic, and Dark Destiny. They've got great characters and an interesting plot if you get bored with the romance.
Uhmm...huh?? This was my last Dark book.... September 25, 2008 Admittedly I've had a problem with the Dark Series since the author decided to gift us with $25 hard back releases instead of those lovely easily inserted into my purse $7 paperbacks, this story however was the last straw. I loved Mary Ann's character in the previous books and couldn't wait for her to find her Carpathian. I even liked Manolito in that horrid turkey tossing Christmas book but for some reason the two together does not a good book make. Mary Ann's character goes from a top notch counselor for women to a designer wearing, ditzy, annoying woman. There were several times during the story I just wanted to chuck her at the vampires and say take her, please! Manolito who seemed so promising in previous book was just weird and indecisive. His being in the shadow world and the real world was weird and confusing. And the introduction of the wolf thing...give me a break, we got what mages, dragons, jaguars(who is just about everyone that's human in the books)? Oh and the whole Carpathian language is impossible to follow. It's one thing to start a series out using a different language peppered throughout but to wait until you're like 16 books in and then throw it in is just plain stupid. I still have the first 8 books from the Dark Series and I can reread all of those and still sigh at the end with satisfaction. I read the recent stuff and its like Feehan has handed her writing off to an assistant who wants Feehan to loose her credibility. Ms Feehan I beg you reread your first books and take the series back in that direction or let this series die an honorable death. Just noticed I gave this thing 2 stars it was supposed to be one, I must have had a twitchy finger..
One Of The Best August 31, 2008 This is by far one of the best books in this series. I have read the entire series and I recommend this book extremely highly. The characters are full and rich, the plot is more complex than some of the others and I have now read this book 3 times. If you enjoy this series, do not hesitate to purchase this next installment, it is definitely worth the price. My hat is off to Christine Feehan since after so many novels she could make this one so very complex and thoroughly riveting.
love Christine Feehan books this one...wasn't my favorite August 26, 2008 I love her books but this one just didn't give the readers what they want. So the girl in the book turns out to have a wolf spirit in her and Manilito claimed her without her knowing it...but it got confusing with him half there and not there...is he a bloody ghost???Then it got into the Jaguar people...who cares...it was not her best book. Everyone wants to read Rhianna's brother's storm Dominic's story. I want to read Skyler and Dmitri's story...that would be awesome.
Dark Possession: Good follow-up book in the series August 12, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very good book...I'm sure everyone wondered what would happen to MaryAnne. I liked this book because the protagonists turn out to me more...equal...than in previous books in the "Dark" series. MaryAnne was a total surprise...to herself as well as to the reader!
