Truly Sublime October 15, 2008 This book provides detailed but simple instructions to make truly gorgeous bags, and the beautiful photographs gave me an incentive to get started. After finishing my first bag I bought three more books to give to friends. This book couldn't have appeared at a better time. Why spend a bunch of dollars buying a great bag when you can make one inexpensively and with a minimum expenditure of time? Billie M.
Fun and sophisticated, even if you're all thumbs October 7, 2008 I attended a class Jodi taught making some of these bags (and I've bought the book) and I want to tell you that even if you're not crafty or artistic, you can get great-looking results--and have fun! Who has time to knit and sew? But stapling I can handle! The secret is the great materials Jodi uses, and she's really thought through, and clearly explained, the process so anyone can follow it--even me! The class, with lots of working moms, was fun and therapeutic--I think it would make a fun pre-teen birthday party, or alternative to a book group.
If she was on Martha... October 6, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
OK, I am giving her 5 stars even though I have not seen her book yet. BUT I did see her just now on "Martha" and if she explains in the book as well as she did on the show, then I want this book and will be putting in my next order from Amazon. These bags are easy-squeasy! Here in oregon, we are known for being environmentally concerned. That said, most grocery stores are going away from those awful plastic bags that clog up our landfill and have a shelf-life of 2,000 years. Using nice handled, reuseable bags is THE way to go and I plan to make several of Jodi's bags for gifts and for my own use for grocery shopping. Jodi's directions were super (on the show) and the design is basic. I could see Den Mothers/Leaders using this as a great Girl Scout or Boy Scout craft project idea. Or me and my friends sitting around making these in a group while discussing the latest things going on in our lives. Fun!!
Darling and Creative September 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had the pleasure of meeting Jodi at the Country Living Fair in Ohio and got a preview of this book. I love that the bags are simple, yet so creative. The illustrations are well done and easy to understand and the photography is wonderful. This is such a fun book.
easy projects September 8, 2008 eager to start projects to use for Christmas presents, etc. some look quite easy, others more complicated but there is so much in it.
