Exactly What We Needed October 1, 2008 This item is exactly as described and reviewed on the Amazon site and has fit our need perfectly. It is dependable and easy to use.
Excellent back up drive September 30, 2008 It is true plug-and-play, the drive was immediately and quickly recognized, no problems there. I reformatted from FAT32 to NTFS for XP. Primarily used as a backup drive with Acronis true Image software. Backs up easily and I have had to restore my drive (operating system) once already. I have not had any noise problems or case heating up. The best part is that this drive can be switched off, and turned on only when needed.
External hardrive September 23, 2008 This product is really easy to set up and holds so much. My lap top started working faster right away.
Iomega 500gb Drive - An excellent Choice! September 15, 2008 I purchased this drive to tranfer several large files. The drive with the shipping cost less than $100 and I am thrilled by it. Good choice, especially for the dough!
Seems like a decent drive September 15, 2008 I've had no problems with this drive. It accesses and transfers files quickly and it runs fairly quietly. I can play video directly from it without a hitch.
It does begin to grow warm after running for an extended period. However, it can be easily switched off when not in use, which mitigates that problem to some extent. It doesn't seem as though the heat will cause any trouble, given adequate care.
One downside: while the drive is plug-and-play as advertised, it's formatted in FAT. If you're running Windows, you'll probably want to reformat it to NTFS.
