epson R320 printer October 28, 2008 I NEVER GOT THE PRINTER!!!! NEVER!!!!!! You should not let this person sell on Amazon.com. He has a 100% Negative rating. He never sent the other buyer theie item. Now I rated it. Now what kind of feed back will I get from YOU Amazon.com?
AWESOME CD Label Printer....otherwise not great!! October 21, 2008 I purchased this printer back in early 2006 (2.5 years ago) for the express purpose of printing labels on printable CD's and DVD's. It does this so incredibaly well I can overlook all its other quirks and shortcomings. I buy the ink-jet printable discs online and the label results are outstanding using the Epson software that comes with the printer.
Quirks: Starts soooo slow...push the power button and go have lunch. Should be ready when you get back. Pretty slow actually printing but that doesn't bother me as I don't print that much and never long documents. Color is OK. I use aftermarket (refilled) compatible cartridges that work just fine but you have to trick the printer when changing them so it doesn't rebel on you. Don't let the printer sit for weeks without using - the cartridges will give you fits if you do. Haven't used the "no computer", USB or memory card printing features so I can't comment on them.
I love the CD/DVD label printing feature so much I've purchased two more new in the box Epson printers (newer models) on craigslist for about $40.00 each just in case this one fails.
Bottom line: If you want ultra-professional looking CD labels but don't care too much about standard printing performance, buy this or one of the other Epson printers that have this feature.
Tech Support IS NONEXISTENT August 20, 2008 5 reasons why I hate EPSON 1. I can't figure out why the print quality is so poor when I print from the computer to the printer (I have a macbook pro, MAC OSX 10.4.11 and am trying to print photos stored in iPhoto and Photoshop Elements 4.0), it's something with the settings, because I have called tech support before and they walked me through it successfully the last time I tried to print photos a few months ago (don't I wish I had taken better notes) 2. There is no toll free number to call tech support, so yes, you have to pay for the call yourself, use up your cell minutes, whatever. 3. Tech Support won't go "off script" or skip ahead. After 35 agonizing minutes of walking me through the script ("unplug the printer ... do a print nozzle check, now do it again, and let's just do it one more time... or else I (the so called tech support) will get in trouble because the line is recorded") I GOT DISCONNECTED JUST AS WE WERE STARTING TO TRY TO PRINT A PHOTO. 4. Tech Support is inflexible. Of course I knew that uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver (which I had done 3-5 times already) was not the answer but tech support insisted we do it again. So that took an additional 5 or 6 minutes, and I still never got the information I was looking for because we were disconnected. Is it so difficult to tell me what settings are required on the computer so I can print photo quality photos!! 5. Tech support is only available Monday through Friday 6 am to 8 pm pacific time, which for a full time working parent of 2 kids under 3 years of age I am lucky to find time to make this kind of a call. Oh yeah, did I mention that they don't even have a toll free number so that after I got disconnected at 8:06 pm pacific, it was too late to call back so I still have my question unanswered and my photos still printing disappointingly.
IF someone at EPSON reads this I hope they will consider getting a toll free number to improve customer satisfaction.
OK so yes I know most of this is probably user error but it shouldn't take a rocket scientist to print a decent photo from a photo printer, nor should tech support be so costly and unhelpful.
Overpriced at this site July 16, 2008 I like the printer - works fine but I'm wondering who is stupid enough to pay $449.99 listed on the Toyzz site? That's a TOTAL RIPOFF.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! February 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This printer has been buggy since day one. Then it seemed the ink ran out ridiculously fast, even when printing in black. Now it will not let me print in black when any other color ink is out, even with a fresh black cartridge! And no work-arounds are possible. A waste of my money, my resources and my time. This is obviously a case of a company not giving a flip about their customers. Epson will NEVER receive another dime of my business.
