Product Description
The 695 is a five section, lightweight carbon fiber and magnesium monopod. Extremely compact for travel, the 695 is crafted from carbon fiber using an exclusive, patented process. Under intense pressure, extra long carbon fibers are combined with resin to produce a stronger tube that absorbs more vibration - and with a wall thickness of only 1.2mm! Manfrotto engineers have also replaced all aluminum components with magnesium. The switch represents a lateral move in sturdiness, yet a substantial gain in strength and overall reduction of weight. The 695 features rapid-action locks, a wrist strap and a camera platform with dual 1/4" and 3/8" camera fixing screw.

I bought this specifically because I had a safari to Zimbabwe planned and had a stroke in April. I needed something to "steady" my camera as I could no longer hold it still. I wanted the "lightest" monopod available. I put this in my luggage and it was stolen by the TSA between California and Atlanta. How do I know it was the TSA? Because they cut the lock off my luggage, and placed a postcard in it, saying that they had "examined" my luggage. They did more than examine it - they took it for a "long term test". I had my receipt from Amazon (it was a two weeks old at the time) and so far they have refused to pay my claim. Rather expensive for 2 weeks use - but it worked flawlessly for it's intention. I was fortunate enogh to get be able to borrow an aluminum SLIK monopod over there from another traveler who was on his way back. I would recommend this monopod, as it is stiff, light, and well made. Just put it in your "carry on", if you travel.
