Product Description
The Gorillapod SLR firmly secures your SLR camera or Compact camcorders to just about anything, anywhere and everywhere. The Gorillapod SLR doesn't require an elevated flat surface for you to take the perfect shot unlike traditional tripods. Habitat - Everywhere

Amazon.com Product Description
The Joby GP2-01P Gorillapod makes taking digital photos more fun than ever. Designed with self-timer photography in mind, the Gorillapod lets you mount your camera just about anywhere you want so that you can include everyone in your automatic shots. All you need to do is use the universal 1/4-20 screw to attach your camera to the standard tripod mount, then wrap the three flexible segmented legs securely to a nearby tree branch, fence, park bench, or anything else that's convenient. Say goodbye to holding your camera at arm's length to take a photo of yourself and your friends--now you can be free to pose however you like!

Durable and innovative, the Gorillapod weighs just 5.8 ounces, or 165 grams, and can support cameras--such as DSLRs--weighing up to 1.75 pounds, or 800 grams. Measuring just 9.8 inches in length, the Gorillapod fits easily into a purse, backpack, or even a roomy jacket pocket.

5 out of 5 stars A nice alternative to the standard mini-tripod when you are on the GoGo!   July 24, 2008
I have seen write-ups on the Gorillapod before and took the opportunity to get firsthand experience with the Joby GP1-M1EN Gorillapod GoGo Flexible Tripod with Suction Cup & 2 Adhesive Clips (Grey). The package includes the Gorillapod GoGo Flexible Tripod with a traditional tripod mount, a suction cup and two adhesive clips. This provides you with a couple of mounting options for your devices, even if they do not have a tripod mount.

With the GoGo version targeted more for handheld electronics, I have used it with a Zoom H2 microphone, a Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1, and a Nokia N800, and I am very happy with the functionality and improvement, you could say the...um...flexibility, over my other mini-tripod. I plan to try it with my webcam to get better positioning for use with Visual Communicator's teleprompter, too.

This was a good introduction to the Gorillapod product line for me, and I will be looking at the other model to get one to have for my camera, too!

4 out of 5 stars Great product - could be cheaper   July 24, 2008
When I first ordered this product from Amazon I thought it was just a camera tripod - but was tickled to find out it supported other devices as well!

As any iPhone user knows, it can be kind of a pain watching videos on the device while holding it in your hands, and if you are in a car or on a train, you have to look down at your hand, which causes neck strain.

I tried the suction cup (its a good suction cup with a clamp like a Nuvi) on my iPod Touch and it worked perfectly, connected and disconnected quickly.

It also worked fine with my Canon SD870 IS digital camera - the instructions say a coin is needed to attach it to the camera but I found it unnecessary. I probably could have connected my larger Lumix FZ18 to it (which is lighter than it looks), but I would have to be very careful with stability.

I have an ancient straight mini-tripod in my camera bag, but I rarely use it and its a little heavy - this one is light and can achieve stability on uneven surfaces with no problem.

You could also fold the legs together and use it handheld between tripod shots. I would have loved this while shooting pictures at a creek last week where I was occasionally placing the camera on rocks for longer exposures - would have been perfect!

Last week I used a car roof and chain-link fence for multisecond night exposures (car roof was not level, still had to brace camera with hand on fence, which caused some movement). This tripod would have been perfect for this as well - achieving level-ness on the car roof without scratching roof (rubber feet), and could be wrapped around the top of the metal fence!

I do have 3 MINOR suggestions for this product though:

1. Its a little expensive - should be $19.95.

2. Design - an all-black model would be nice - the gray trim makes it look like a kid's toy a little.

3. I would like to see an adapter which was especially designed to 'clamp' an iPhone/Touch/PSP from its sides without a suction cup or adhesive clip. The reason is that my iPhone has never been out of its rubber protective skin case since it came out of the box, and I dont want to attach anything to the case which would be sticking out the back.

4. It would be great if the 3 attachment clips could be stowed with the unit, like maybe under the head, so they dont get lost. Very minor gripe.

At the very least this tripod is replacing my ancient straight mini-tripod in my camera bag, because it makes the other one obsolete.
I can also seeing using this at my desk to view my iPhone screen and take calls via the speaker phone or headset with ease.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome product   July 24, 2008
This little gadget has been invaluable. I can use it as a regular tripod or throw it around a fence or post to get really fun shots. And it's really strong, so I don't worry about it not supporting my larger camera. We're recommending it to everyone!

5 out of 5 stars Sturdy, Flexible, and Useful   July 24, 2008
The Gorillapod GoGo isn't the first flexible tripod on the block, but it is one of the better. I have used it both for a DSLR (40D) with a small lens and a point and shoot (TX1). It holds up well for both options, however, depending on the DSLR setup it might not be able to hold the weight.

The legs seem to be able to flex in all directions without giving out too much, which indicates that the flexibility will likely stay around for a long time to come. This little guy comes in handy when you are the middle of nowhere and realized you should have brought a tripod. I'll also carry it with me when I don't want to carry my full-size tripod around. It's also great to hold a flashlight (if you have a flashlight with a bit of flat surface to stick it to) or several other devices. You'll find plenty of uses for it!

5 out of 5 stars Gorillapod? VersatilePod! Ingenius design. Excellent for everyone and not just for cameras.   July 24, 2008
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RTAI5CO5RBCIN Whether you're a beginner, amateur, pro photographer, child or adult, this is a must-have tripod for everyone.

This review is for the Joby GP1-M1EN Gorillapod that includes also two adhesive clips and a suction cup clip.

This is THE tripod that you'll frequently be using, with its ability to twist to different positions and grab on to the most unusual places that plain, boring -- even super expensive tripods -- could never do. It has many different uses (not just for cameras). I never thought I would be playing with a tripod, I mean... my Gorillapod, for hours. (See my video!)

It's fun and amazing what this thing can do.

GORILLApod is great for GUERRILLA filmmakers. If you film a lot of stuff with a small digital camera, you'll love this. (And they also have a larger Gorillapod for actual video cameras and SLRs, which I will definitely get too.)

It can act as a steadycam for your wrist. Just wrap the legs on your wrist and you can even film while having both hands free!

I've also actually attached the Gorillapod on my car door handle, with a small digital camera (Canon SD300) attached to it, and went for drive. (You can see the results around the second half of the video!). I had all three legs, wrapped around on the handle, and since it has several rubber grips on the legs, the thing wasn't going anywhere; it was more of a concern of how well the clip was going to hold the camera. However, I was amazed by the results. See the video for yourself. It really was secure the entire time. (although I would not recommend doing this for most people, for obvious reasons, and especially if your digital camera is big, etc.)

This isn't just for cameras, but excellent for video/mp3 players. Seriously, it's up to your imagination. I've used the adhesive on my portable video player (even though I didn't like the idea of attaching something permanent on it), and it stays on very well. I can attach my player to the Gorillapod now and hang it on a lamp pole or table, and watch it with an ideal view without having to hold it in my hands or putting my head down while watching.

This product not only looks fun, but it really is a joy to use and very convenient to have. Although some may think it looks silly like a child's toy, this thing is no joke. It's so versatile. You can practically put it anywhere, except you just need to know the right "combination" (position) for the legs.

For me, the 1/4-20 screw (for cameras) clip took more effort to pull out than the suction cup and adhesive clips, but I later realized that's actually a good thing (wouldn't want a camera falling off easily if you were to forget to put it in the lock position!). Be sure to hold the "Joby" button before removing the clips. It should make a click sound when a new clip is securely placed, and then just turn the thing to the lock position. The 1/4-20 screw (for cameras) also has a rubber surface so your camera won't get scratched when screwed in; however, I've noticed some minor tears on the grip already if you twist your camera in too much or remove it frequently.

Pros:
- Very versatile. It's seriously up to your imagination/the different positions and uses.
- Rubber grips on the legs makes it perfect for securely grabbing things and not slipping off!
- Easy to lock and unlock clips.

Cons:
- The rubber surface on the camera clip may tear if you screw your camera in too much or remove frequently. (Then again, you can purchase additional clips too from Amazon. Hopefully, they will sell extra adhesive clips too)

I'd also like to see this small Gorillapod with even longer legs. I thought a beanbag-pod was unique a couple years ago, but this totally blows that one away. It's one of those products where you'll be saying "I could've thought of that..." but for it to actually be made and perform this well is a different story. I'm quite impressed and I love the Gorillapod!

Highly recommended! Please watch my video also.
