300mm lens December 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received the lens very quickly, which was greatly appreciated. I have used it several times on my Nikon D90 camera, and it really reaches out there and gets excellent closeups. Is very easy to use, works seamlessly with my camera, exactly as I'd hoped. A lot of product for the money, and a very satisfied customer.
Stunning lens on my D700 October 5, 2008 I bought this lens about 2 years ago and have been using it on my D200. It's sharp. It's light. It's a lens that, if I drop it, I'll live. But the comments that it is rather slow in dim light are fair, and I've been saving for the 70-200 2.8 zoom. Rather than replace the lens, though, I fell in love with the D700. That CAMERA is so fast and so good at high ISO's -- crystal clear at 1600 -- it's like the lens just got 4 stops faster! Suddenly, the 5.6 f/stop (at the long end) is the equivalent of 2.8. At the short end, the 4.0 becomes a mythical 1.0! It's AMAZING. I just upgraded all my lenses similarly. On the D700, this is a fabulous lens. It's fast glass! It's sharp. It's light. True, it still does not focus as snappy quick as an AFS lens, but then, it's many hundreds of dollars cheaper! And it's not a VR, but I'm shooting 4 stops faster as it is! (VR lets you use slower shutter speeds, but doesn't hold your subject still; higher ISO's give you the faster shutter speed.) It really is an amazing bargain lens. If you're on a lower model Nikon camera, you won't be using it inside. If you can spring for the D700 or D3, it's hard to argue that the money would have been better spent on the wonderful 2.8 series of lenses.
Nikon 70-300 Lens September 30, 2008 This is a light weight lens that is easy to use and gives great results. I also have a Nikor 70-300 D that is supposed to be far superior to the G lens (and costs a lot more) but I tested this one against the D and found the difference to be so slight that only the "most high pros" would care. Considering the weight difference, I know I will use this one most of the time and probably sell my D lens. I was able to take hand held (no tripod) shots at 300mm with only a brace and got perfect results.
Great Lens August 30, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This product was in perfect shape. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because the only way I can use it on my Nikkon D40 is on manual. It's my fault really. It is a great lens for manual use.
Awesome Lens and Awesome Service. August 20, 2008 I have ordered the Nikon 70-300MM AF Nikkor SLR Camera Lens from "Gigabargain." I have emailed him asking if I could get my order before Sunday. * Ordered on the 16th, Saturday. * He/She replied with no problem. I received it (Lens) about 2 Hours ago. * Wed. 20th *. Yay. :]
This lens is GREAT. Not heavy. It's a tad slow when it tries to Auto Focus, but that doesn't matter to me because I use manual focus anyways.
Great price for this too.
