good but fragile July 31, 2008 This case fits both of my digital cameras (canon s410 and sd1000). It kept all the water and sand out and droplets on the lens were not a huge problem. I did have a few images that had a drop on them but that was because the camera came directly out of the water or it was raining on the lens. Many of the images had black marks that cut off 2 corners (bottom 2 or top 2) of the pictures because the camera lens wasn't in the exact center of the case lens. Not a big deal I just have to crop the image. The biggest issue I had was after my husband dropped the camera about 12 inches, a tiny hole developed and began to leak. I had to find a pool repair kit and patch up the camera case. Overall, it is worth having if you are going to use it lightly, but if you want a real underwater case you're going to have to spend the big bucks.
Aside: -I never took the camera more than three feet underwater. The manufacturer says it can go 15 feet deep, but I don't know if it really can. -The case works well with buttons, but is difficult to use with anything else like a dial or a switch that needs to move to side to side.
flash issues July 24, 2008 I took this product on a white water rafting trip with me and it worked well after i realized a few things and corrected them. There are a few issues buyers should be aware off. 1. Make sure you buy the right size pack for your camera, i bought a size one too big and it made it a little clumsy to use. 2. When you put your camera in the pack make sure you take off your camera strap, i found the strap got in the way of the lenses and since its enclosed in the pack, it was hard to move out of the way. 3. I have a canon SD450 camera, i found when the camera flashed the Black hard plastic housing for the lenses would get in the way of the flash and white out the picture.
Otherwise for the price it worked well!
Great product for the price. Lots of fun! May 15, 2008 Took this bag on vacation in Hawaii and used with with a Sony Cybershot snorkeling and kayaking. Took excellent pictures, better than any disposable underwater camera I have ever used. It was difficult to change camera modes (still pictures to video, etc) becasue you have to turn a dial through the plastic bag, but other buttons (flash mode, shutter, power) were easily utilized. We used the neck lanyard and could just let the camera float along when not using it so we didn't have to hold it the entier time. We had full use of the LCD on the back of the camera. In some pictures the camera was off center and you can see the black rim of the lens on the bag, but that is easily cropped out. If using out of the water I would recommend cleaning the lens cap once in a while becasue water spots will show up on the pictures. Overall, fun to use!
works as advertised and it floats May 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great product I brought this to extend the range of options I could have with my compact digital Nikon Coolpix, which already takes great pics, had it installed in minutes and on its maiden voyage it worked perfectly. The most inexpensive way to waterproof your gear I'd recommend it.
Cool Product! April 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It works! It appears as though your very expensive digital camera is going into the ocean in a ziplock, but it works! We bought one before a recent vacation to Belize & Guatemala and we had the best time when we were diving with sharks, stingrays and other sea creatures! We just set our camera to the video setting and went crazy! The picture quality was perfectly clear and we had some amazing photos from the trip underwater.
It is hard to move the dial on the camera once it is set and you are in the water, but it can be done. It was also hard to see what you were filming, but with some hit and miss you'll get something :)
Also, we used this anytime we went near the water: when we were kayaking, when we went caving (ATM tour) and it worked perfectly. You might get a little distortion on the edges, and sometimes a little moisture in the bag, but nothing that will hurt your camera.
It was a very fun thing and one that we can't wait to use again!
