Great Deal on an Excellent Printer November 4, 2008
I was looking for a replacement for my older HP Photosmart printer, specifically one with CD/DVD direct print capability. I found it in the D5460, and then some.
It only took a short time to understand the workings and I printed a couple of DVD's the first night. By the third day, I had printed over 40 and each time I improved until It was just another task. I now print several discs every day and it is so easy.
The print quality and dry time are excellent. A sample pack of heavy photo paper was included and I lost one of the three due to a subject's head being cut off. I just moved it down a bit and voila! I couldn't tell it from a print from One-Hour Photo. Clear, bright colors and very fast drying.
I am very happy with the product, the price and the service. My sincere thanks to Amazon.com and to the seller.
Fine Printer November 3, 2008
Fast and beautiful print out on regular paper. Five ink cartridges, we'll see how long they last. Software for printing labels is poor but it works. Loaded smoothly on Ibook, OS 10.3.9.
DiscLabel? Only works on dvd/cd tray for OS 10.4+, no go on 10.3.9. Standalone pix printout from
memory stick works great. No usb cable with machine. Great price.

This Photosmart Printer is the best. It makes pictures so good you won't believe they came from an inkjet printer! It also prints in color on CDs/DVDs - a real plus. Another plus is the replaceable printhead. Instead of trowing away the printer, you can replace the head if it becomes clogged.
The only complaint is the the ink gauge - it doesn't work. The software said I was out of colored ink but I am still printing! I have printed 20 photos and some labels and still going strong. There seems to be no way to tell the actual ink levels - even a reasonable close estimate!

Picked this up for its cd/dvd printing capability and it works great with my Mac. I also did not have to use the included HP software to print to dvd. I use a program for the mac called DiscLabel and it is compatible with this printer. Printed some photos and DVD covers too and they all turned out great. Awesome little addition for my business.

This is the best printer I have ever owned. I usually never buy anything but HP we bought an Epson for the disk printing it sucked. We returned it and bought the HP D5460 it's amazing. The picture quality is WOW! It looks like they were processed at a professional store when you us the hp advanced paper which is a dollar more then the regular. The disk printing is truly cool and is not sloppy like the Epson printer. Great Job HP! I would recommended to everyone
