| Features:
| | With constant shooting, flash usage, image review and playback, especially when you have access to additional memory, your standard battery alone will not usually be sufficient. | | | More powerful than your standard battery, this 1500mAh capacity LP-E5 will not put constraints on how you want to shoot. | | | A battery loses power in cold weather, and can become too cold to operate the camera. Keeping a spare battery warm in your pocket to maximize battery power and periodically switching the cold battery for the warm one can significantly enhance battery performance. | | | Memory Free! This LP-E5 can be charged at any time without harm, even if it already has a partial charge and can be typically charged over 1000 times. |

Cheaper cost than Canon and performs well September 16, 2008 So far, I find that this battery performs as good as the Canon at 1/3 the price. I needed a backup and am giving it a good workout as I am using it as the primary battery in my Rebel XSI for now. Any problems and I will come back and make a report.
Good batteries, shame they chose to lie about them September 9, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
The batteries I actually got were CTA batteries rated at 1100 mAh. I've had good luck with CTA batteries before, and these (I bought two) seem comparable to the battery that came with the camera. (Canon's battery is rated at 1080 mAh which, given the slop in battery ratings, is the same.) So they are good batteries at a good price.
What is unfortunate is that Cameta and Amazon have chosen to lie about the product. It is listed as a 1500 mAh battery, and the official picture shows that rating. (Note that their picture does not show a CTA battery, so the manufacturer appears to be innocent.) I've uploaded a picture of one of the the actual batteries I got, showing the 1100 mAh rating. Given the size of the battery, 1500 mAh is probably unreasonable in this package.
The batteries I got were good batteries at a good price, but they didn't match the description. So be aware that if you order them you are dealing with a dishonest vendor. You might get something different. Three stars is an average of the value of the batteries (five stars) and the dishonestly of the vendor (one star).
PS (added 20 September 2008): I've noticed that the vendor that comes up as the primary choice keeps changing. What battery you get may depend on the vendor. Amazon appears to have accumulated vendors selling replacement batteries under one entry, even though they may not all be selling replacement batteries by the same manufacturer. (Amazon lists the manufacturer as Power 2000, but I got batteries made by CTA.) I recommend checking with the vendor before ordering. The CTA batteries I got from Cameta are great, but you might get something different from another vendor. Amazon has removed the picture of the 1500 mAh battery, but not the reference to 1500 mAh in the description. I'm personally skeptical that anyone can produce a true 1500 mAh battery this small, especially at a discount price. This is very much a case where "caveat emptor" applies.
PPS (added 23 September 2008): The picture of the 1500 mAh battery is back. I don't understand what Amazon is doing with this page. Just be careful about what you order.
Good battery life at much lower price! August 30, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Used it a couple of times, it seems to hold charge just as good as a geniune Canon, but at much cheaper.
Replacement Battery August 30, 2008 It's nice to have a lower - priced alternative. It works fine, I can't tell any difference between this and the original equipment.
it is a battery, seems decent August 29, 2008 It seems to hold its charge, it seems to allow for more shots than the default battery, it seems to be working well. I have no science to back this up and have no reason thus far to doubt that it will work as claimed.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is battery and as such is nearly impossible to determine its quality with tools I don't have and is nearly impossible to determine how long it will last. So I gave it benefit of the doubt and gave it 4 stars since it has not died on me yet, after a few months of use, and perhaps 5-6 recharges.
I get easily 1500 to 2000 shots per charge if not more. I usually do a few hundred shots at a time, a few times a week, in various condidtions with NO onboard flash, 30 sec timeout of display and minimal live view use. I would not be surprised to learn that I am getting 2500 or more shots per charge.
I will have to test it for exact results, but it gets noticeably more than the default battery, which still lasts me well in excess of the stated number of frames.
I would recommend this battery, in fact I will be getting another one to put in the battery grip I am ordering for the XSi. Then we will see how long this really lasts, 3 batteries at once, how cool.
