Wii for my son, PS3 for mii (wait, I meant “me”) March 30, 2008
Finally picked up a Wii from Amazon for my son’s birthday. I already have a PS3 that I love, but my son likes to hijack it to play the “Duckie” and Locco Rocco games. So now I have my PS3 on my hi-def set and the wii on the much smaller standard 4:3 tv.
I give the wii 4 stars for the package as a whole. Nice form factor (it takes up very little space when on the vertical stand), and innovative motion-sensing controls that even a toddler can use. The inclusion of Wii Sports is fantastic, but I am a bit disappointed that I have to purchase the web browser separately (about $5, but it should really be pre-installed). On a side note, the soft remote jacket makes the wiimote a little bulky for small hands.
The Wii is great for family time, or get-togethers with friends. It encourages bonding time among the family, as everyone can participate and cheer each other on (my son isn’t at the trash talk stage… yet). However, I don’t see it getting much use by a single player. Even my son doesn’t spend much time with it unless someone else is around to join in or watch.
Overall, I would say that the Wii is a nice complemtary system to my PS3. If I only had the Wii, I think I would be a little disappointed (with no Blu-ray playback, no 1080p, no upscaling of dvds, no divx playback, and no downloadable content for Rock Band). I am, however, looking forward to what Nintendo and their third party developers come up with that takes advantage of the wiimote control mechanism, as there are only a few titles that interest me at this time. I’ll likely get Wii Fit when it’s available (I could use it). Yes, this is my son’s system. However, this doesn’t mean that I can’t hijack it for myself from time to time…
Pretty great system March 30, 2008
This gaming system is great. It has what you would expect from this generation of video games minus the incredible graphics. That is the only disappointment though. It is fun, and keeps you active with selected games. It’s fun for the entire family.
Not just for kids March 29, 2008
Product was delivered promptly. The Wii provides hours of entertainment for adults as well as kids - this takes gaming to a whole new dimension with the remote control. LOVE IT!

The Latest Customer reviews on the Nintendo Game Console Wii at Amazon:
The Best!! February 9, 2008
Well this has to be the best video game console nintendo has made so far. It is sold out everywhere!! Your best bet is e-bay or wait until the hipe is over to finally find one. I am so impressed. I actually sold all my old consoles just to have this one. I got it a few days ago and it is just loads of fun. This console seems to be the only console that has changed the world of gaming in a very big way. It’s all people talk about and play. Everyone from all walks of life and ages say they enjoy every bit of it. People have also lost lots weight from all the swing motion and getting so into the game. This has been a life changing console for everyone. Nintendo has always made history to have very historic consoles but this console is probrobly the most talked about since the 1980’s console Regular Nintendo which also made history. If you do lay your hands on this precious make sure you enjoy every bit of it!!
Great fun for adults too! February 6, 2008
I bought a Wii when it first came out and I was lucky that I only had to wait in line for 90mins. Unfortunately my first Wii was DOA as the unit will not accept the disc. Nintendo customer support was great and got a replacement in 3 business days. The graphics may not be like the XBox 360 or PS3 but the fun factor is there. Games like Super Mario Party 8 and Big Brain Acadamy can bring many hours of play time enjoyment with friends and family. The size of the Wii is small so I place it on top of my DVD player. If you’re looking for a Wii I highly recommend calling Best Buy and ask them when it’s going to come out and be prepared to wait in line for a couple of hours or more. I also recommend picking up Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Party 8. The Wii only comes with one Wii Remote and a Nunchuk. I recommend picking up a 2nd Wii remote and nunchuk.
Pros: Fun Factor! Low cost! Small Size Built in Wireless Internet
Cons: Way too hard to find. Should come with a 2nd Wii Remote.
