Amazon Customer Reviews:

A Great Beginning to a New Future for the Written Word   April 3, 2008

I’ve been looking at Ebooks for several years but never saw one I was willing to actually purchase until I saw the Kindle. I was interested in an Ebook reader for 3 reasons: 1) adjustable font–I’m well into middle-age and my eyes aren’t what they used to be; 2) the ability to carry MANY books in a convenient, lightweight way when I travel; and 3) there had to be a sizeable amount of CONTENT available or the Ereader was merely a useless electronic gadget.

I’ve had my Kindle for 2 months, and the Kindle meets the first two requirements EXCELLENTLY, and I give the 3rd requirement a “good”. I now have many books at my fingertips and can pull out my K filled with reading material when I have to wait for a flat tire to be fixed, when I’m waiting in a long line at a store, whenever I’m waiting, period!

The page buttons were a minor nuisance at first, but I quickly learned how to hold the K (with the cover on) and pick it up without hitting the buttons. It was learning curve to be sure, but easily learned.

A dot of velcro on the bottom right corner of the cover keeps the cover on, or looping the elastic around the bottom right-hand corner does the trick, too. Again, a minor nuisance but NOT worth the quibble everyone seems to make over it.

The scroll wheel is easy to use. I’ve done a lot of highlighting and adding notes to the books I’ve read. There’s a bit of a learning curve associated with it, but nothing insurmountable.

Downloading books is a breeze! Amazon has FAR, FAR more content available than any other Ebook prior to it, altho it still has a long way to go. I still have a lonnng list of books I want to see Kindled, but every week I’m finding more and more on my list available in the Kindle store, and I’m confident that in time, my entire list will be kindled. I could NEVER make that statement with any previous incarnation of the Ereader.

The Experimentals are just that: add-ons, but not necessary to the reason why I purchased the Kindle. I don’t care about NowNow, I use my computer to surf the web, and I use an MP3 player to listen to music.

If you’re looking for an all-in-one product for yourself, you’re looking in the wrong place. The Kindle wasn’t DESIGNED for that. It was DESIGNED to be an E-reader, and it does that VERY WELL. If you’re looking at the Kindle for the sole purpose on which to read documents, your laptop is probably the better choice. If you wish to read books on your Kindle, I can’t recommend it highly enough!

The written word is here to stay: it just may come in a different delivery system. It doesn’t mean physical books are/will be rendered useless. It just means that there is ANOTHER possible way in which to
read material. And ANY way that enriches the reading experience for many people is a GOOD thing, IMHO.

The Kindle is Awesome!   April 3, 2008

I read a book review by Stephen King and it wasn’t the book that peaked my interest, but the vehicle in which he read it. Yes, the Kindle is the future. While we’ve not expanded the horizon into newspapers, the fact you can receive a book to this unit at the click of a button is fanstatic. There are so many adjustments you can make to enhance your reading experience, like font size etc., this makes the average reader enjoy publications like never before. While the price is a tad high, if you’re spending $20 for a hardcover, and read with a great degree of frequency this is for you. It will pay for itself in no time. If you’re the kind of person that likes the dust jacket and something for the bookcase…maybe not but just the mere fact your newspaper arrives to your book without the extra paper makes enviornmental sense. We look forward to an exciting future with our Kindle. Perhaps something for the kids as well (?)

Omron HJ-112 Digital Premium Pedometer   March 18, 2008
I have owned several pedometers but none as nice as this one. It’s easy to set up, easy to use and easy to read. I suspect others may do a little more, but they probably cost significantly more. This one is good value for the money.

 10,000 steps a day keeps the doctor away.. :)   March 18, 2008
I just love the pedometer.. When a friend got it, I made fun of her.. But I regret it now. This is like the best product I ever used. I carry it with me all the time.

My doctor told me that an average of 10,000 steps a days will keep one healthy. I thought I usually take 10,000 steps.. But getting this pedometer was an eye opener. I didnot come even half close. Now, I try my best to complete the 10,000 steps. Since I have a goal, all the things that I used to avoid like throwing trash are sounding very welcoming to me now. Throwing trash gets me 300 steps!!! I stopped roaming in walmart for a near parking spot. Infact I am parking in the farthest one now.. In school parking lot too.. I am trying to walk as much as possible.. I am doing 40 mins exercise on tread mill regularly.. Even going to the mall gets you 2000 steps.

Believe me.. 10,000 steps are not easy to achieve.. If at all I fall short by a few thousand steps then I try to compensate it the next day. My overall aim is to get 70,000 steps a week.Since this pedometer has memory too for seven days, it is perfect for me. I gave this as an gift too. Just counts the steps perfectly.. Don’t worry about the stride length.. it is used just to see the distance you are covering.

All in all, getting a pedometer is the best thing you can do. For 20$ you will become more health conscious, will feel more drive to walk.. I recommend this to everyone..

Amazon Customer Review:

The BEST blu-ray player made   December 20, 2007
If you want the top on the line blu-ray player the Sony S2000ES is the one to get. Extremely well made…there is a reason why the ES line has a 5 year parts and labor warranty and others are just 1 year. Having owned other Sony ES line players I have always been impressed with the picture and build quality. I have always found the ES line worth paying more for and this player is no exception. I have a high end HDtv and Standard Definition (upconverting using HDMI) of the Sony ES2000 is beautiful….I have played some SD DVDs that look better than some HD blu-rays I have seen. And remember SD DVDs will be around for a long time and that is most of what you will be viewing until more and more titles come out in HD. Do not buy if you do not have an HDMI input in your TV. It would be like buying a Ferrari and just driving it to the Super Market.
