Kindle Reading Device

I have had the Kindle now for a little over a month and love it!!. During this time I have downloaded a number of books and taken a number of extended trips. The ability to order a book with one click and have it delivered within a few minutes is great for last minute decisions before you leave for the airport or even at the airport. The display is really good and while i read some negative reports about the ergonomics (too easy to turn a page without intending to do so for example)this has really not been a problem.
I must admit to being a little disappointed to find out, so soon after I bought this, that an upgraded model will be released in the next few months model but really can’t complain – technology moves at a pace and waiting afraid of a new model release is really not the thing to do. If you are sitting on the fence considering a reading device then I suggest you jump down on the side of the Kindle and enjoy!

How did I live before my Kindle?

I have had my Kindle for two months now. Before purchasing it, I was indecisive for a long time, but now I couldn’t be more thrilled. I have never been more happy with a purchase. I’m carrying a virtual library with me daily, with a vast selection of books to suit whatever mood I may be in. I can switch Whispernet on and have a new book in moments. Does the Kindle have its flaws? Yes, but the pros far outweigh the cons.

It’s difficult to put down. I’ve found myself reading more, and reading books I wouldn’t have picked up before. I love that I’m able to download a sample prior to purchasing.

It’s lightweight and comfortable to hold. My biggest complaint, however, is the placement of the page turning buttons – it’s just awkward, and I have a habit of accidentally pressing them several times while reading. But it’s not a huge issue, and I’m sure this problem will be solved in future models.

The screen is wonderful. It’s just like reading from a book. Even if a back light was a possibility, I’d be perfectly content without it.

The battery lasts and lasts. I haven’t been in danger of losing power, and I rarely have to charge it. I like that the Kindle will put itself to sleep when it hasn’t been used for several minutes.

As for the cons, I’d like more ways to sort my list of books. There is a delay in turning the pages of said list that’s rather noticeable. Also, while in the store, I’ve accidentally purchased a book a couple of times when I actually wanted to download a sample. It’d be nice if the try a sample and buy buttons were a little farther apart, but I’m just nitpicking here, as a refund is provided right away.

Now, the cover. While aesthetically it’s not pleasing, it performs its function well. I’ve never had one problem with the cover. It holds my Kindle securely – not once has it fallen out, and I am a very clumsy person. It’d be nice if Amazon included a cover of higher quality, but it does its job. At any rate, I haven’t felt the need to purchase a different cover…yet.

I’ve probably just repeated what others are saying, but I’m proud to sing the Kindle’s praises. I am very happy I took the plunge. It’s been worth every penny.
